Here's the Wikipedia link, but it's in Dutch, so you'll have to run it through translation. But I'm mentioned in the second paragraph. It happened in 1988 and the band was called Brutal Obscenity. I just sat in for one gig, had to learn the entire set in only 4 days.

I told that thrash metal band that, yeah, sure I can stand in for your drummer for one gig. I hadn't played thrash metal ever in my life, but I totally pulled it off, and I don't just say so myself. It also says so on Wikipedia.

Would regularly crank out 10-20 page papers the night before they were due in grad school. STS9 live shows were always the soundtrack to these manic, caffeine fueled writing sessions. The untz will get you there when you need it to.

I wrote a 15 page report on heraldic symbolism in medieval armor and weapon design for my art history class the night before it was due (8am class). Made up 90% of it (only found one book for reference) and got an A. GenAI could fucking never.

I'm afraid I just switched off "Nobody's Girl". I made it to the 9th track - the one that mentions Billy Joel - but too much is too much. Yeah, I get it, it's a breakup record. But is there a law I'm not aware of that prohibits the inclusion of memorable tunes on breakup records?

It's a thing of beauty. Soaring tunes, clean and crisp arrangements and production, yet hazy and shoegazey when it needs to be. Their best work since "Our Hope", I'd say.

The reason? I have very little use for sentimental break-up tunes from the American south - Trumpian heartland - in 2025, even if the artists themselves aren't necessarily on that side of the fence. And that's a big if, because most of them keep quiet about it. 2/2

It really shouldn't come as a surprise anymore, because I've been a fan since the first album. But @divinecomedyhq.bsky.social keep up their not-a-bad-album-in-their-discography winning streak with the new record "Rainy Sunday Afternoon". Good grief, it's good and then some.
