My 80-year-old aunt told me she "got tired of streaming" and is borrowing DVDs from her library again.

So I checked it out and they have an amazing selection. Blu-rays too, from Criterion, Kino Lorber and other boutique labels.

Great new doc about Andy.
Feels like the final word
on the life and work.
New revelations.
Clips I had never seen before.
Interviews with many who were
right there in the middle of it.
Danny Devito tells a story
about the funeral
that I'm still thinking about...

The cool thing about bsky is that
you can post non-political pieces
and it's like a tree falling in the woods
with no one around to hear it

When I was a kid
I woke up in the middle of the night
and Emotional Rescue was playing
on my bedside radio
It was the part where Mick
was saying "I will be your knight in shiiiining armor"
That voice in the dark totally freaked me out
and to this day
the song is basically
my Goodbye Horses

A documentary
about an encounter with a real guy
who dreamed of being on TV...
that was then remade
with a young actor at the time
named Sean Penn
and then remade yet again
with another new actor
named Crispin Glover.
An origami film
that keeps folding and folding...

Unhinged and way ahead of its time.
Shot on video.
Horror musical.
Found footage splices.
1980s empty mall vibes.
Foggy suburb streets.
And masks.
Like you saw it once
on late night cable access
and now years later
you've convinced yourself
it was just a weird dream

Screenplays with a great Page One
ALIENS (1985 draft) by James Cameron
The visuals and atmosphere are all here.
You KNOW this is a movie.
But it was the opening line
with a touch of poetry
that taught me a screenplay
can go deeper.
"The stars shine like the love of God...
cold and remote."

Don't spend money today.
Go outside instead.
Greedily consume nature.
Gobble up free art around you.
Acquire, grab, and seize
the riches of a conversation
with a stranger.

Back in my "aspiring screenwriter" days we had to scrounge, trade, steal - do anything to get our hands on an actual draft. There was that one script for you personally where it just clicked. The pages actually taught you what it's supposed to look like.
For me, that script was THE TERMINATOR.

And finally... the #1 Best Seller in Literary Fiction on today's Amazon book charts. I don't even need to make you guess. You already knew the answer.

Let's keep the party going. Today's #1 Best Seller in Political Fiction on Amazon's book charts is... Animal Farm. This is the 75th Anniversary Edition. So yeah... a 75-year-old story still resonating.

Next up on today's Amazon book charts: The Handmaid's Tale by Margaret Atwood. #1 in Romance Literary Fiction. #2 in Political Fiction. And #2 in Dystopian Fiction.

Also at the top of today's Amazon book charts. #1 in Classic American Literature. My personal copy that I've had since 8th grade is about five steps away from my desk.

"It was nearly eleven hundred,
and in the Records Department,
where Winston worked,
they were dragging the chairs
out of the cubicles
and grouping them in the center of the hall
opposite the big telescreen,
in preparation for
the Two Minutes Hate."

"Winston kept his back turned to the telescreen. It was
safer, though, as he well knew, even a back can be revealing."

Page 1. Paragraph 2. Orwell wastes no time:
"Winston made for the stairs. It was no use trying the lift. Even at the best of times it was seldom working, and at present the electric current was cut off during daylight hours. It was part of the economy drive in preparation for Hate Week."

Make art.
Put it out there in the world.
Anywhere.
Everywhere!
