My son’s high school’s winter concert was last night and the two women right next to me talked the entire time through it.* What words are there even to talk for 90 straight minutes?!
*Except during “Jaden’s” part. They were silent for the kid they were there to see.

I know a lot of insane things are happening all at once in academia right now and a lot of very talented people I respect are having to deal with things they shouldn’t, but I hope they know that many of us recognize how important a contribution they make and how vital they are to our society.

First day of my winter break included three movies, two episodes of Cobra Kai, and the Sabrina Carpenter Christmas special from last year. I had planned to go to the gym, but I had errands to run, too.

I signed up for Netflix last night so I could watch seasons 3, 4 and 5 of Stranger Things (I have the first two seasons on disc). I haven’t had Netflix in years and the interface has definitely been enshittified since I was last on.

I would say I have super hero movie fatigue overall, but that aside, I’m more excited about Supergirl than I am Avengers 5. And I could not have imagined saying something like that in the past 15+ years.

I take my near 17-year-old son to school in the mornings everyday. Some days we sit in silence. Some days we pops headphones on and I listen to a podcast. Some days I say something that ticks him off and we fight. And some days, like today, we debate and discuss Kryptonian genetics.

The Human Adventure is Just Beginning. Celebrating Star Trek: The Motion Picture, which premiered in theatres on Dec 7, 1979. The film had flaws, but was a major triumph, for Gene Roddenberry, for the production team, and most of all for the fans, whose determination & persistence made it possible.

Remake, not a sequel. Change it up a bit so Sonny gets a song or two, too, because Djo has talent.
