Evan Hanson: recovering attorney, writer, photographer, podcaster, reader of things, wannabe deep thinker, and a guy on a journey to try and be a better person.
Don’t be a person that interrupts your evening with a thought about some bit of dictum from a Pauline epistle and it’s impact on American political thought then going down a rabbit hole that ends up with you beating yourself up over your inability to read Greek with any accuracy. Don’t be an Evan.

Woot! @Columbia came through. They scanned Beatrice Weinreich's 1957 Masters Thesis "The Prophet Elijah in Modern Yiddish Folktales" for me. It's really cool. Hit me up if you want a copy or if you have Adobe Acrobat and can help me get the annoying watermark out of it.

Hi! Today’s episode of BBC Dead Funny History is all about history’s most successful pirate, Zheng Yi Sao — it’s a very funny 14 minute romp with funny audio sketches and narration by me. Suitable for children!

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

I enjoyed MAN ON THE INSIDE season 1 but it's very much the soft-focus American version of writing a story about age. I would strongly recommend the Chinese show THE LONG SEASON for being, as well as a full noir, actually much more direct about age, humiliation, and loss.
