Since we are on what many consider the right side of the winter solstice here’s hoping yours, mine, and the world’s darkest days are behind us. Also for no reason, here is the Arrival of the Queen of Sheba.

Listening to some 80s music as I read before bed and Tracey Ullman’s version of They Don’t Know comes on and suddenly I feel very old and tired.

When we say "no, everything hasn't been digitized," I need you to understand that we really mean is that virtually nothing has been digitized. This is because the realm of primary sources that historians use is incomprehensibly large.

My son in-law upon seeming a copy of Beyond Good and Evil in my library: That’s a cool book…if you’re a cynical 17 year old know it all.

Me: I am awarding you one additional respect point.

I enjoyed MAN ON THE INSIDE season 1 but it's very much the soft-focus American version of writing a story about age. I would strongly recommend the Chinese show THE LONG SEASON for being, as well as a full noir, actually much more direct about age, humiliation, and loss.

Two finely crafted bone combs from the early 6th c. AD, found in a grave at Dittigheim. To protect their delicate tines, they were carefully kept in a custom-made case. In the Early Middle Ages, long, well-groomed hair was more than a fashion choice, it was a symbol of status and identity. 1/2

Happy birthday to the woman who forged me into the man I am today.

The woman who provides balance to my life.

The woman who is brave when I am afraid.

Who is calm when I am irate.

Who has fought off death three times this year.

And who continues to surprise me with her strength.

In 50's US, the top 10% held 35% of the wealth while the next 60% had 50%. (91% tax for the rich)

Today, the top 10% hold 70% of the wealth while the next 60% own 25%. (37% tax)

It was Mitt & his party that made that happen.

So yeah, NOW they say "tax the rich" B/C THEY'RE THE ONLY ONES W/WEALTH!
