That's weird cause I just checked with an American citizen and she said the ballroom is wayyyyy down on the list below things like stopping fascism and ending unlawful ICE raids and making sure hungry kids are fed, and she did also mention that she's technically the president's boss

There are some male characters way on the periphery, but Beauty Queens by Libba Bray centers on a group of teen girls heading to a beauty pageant when their plane crashes and leaves them in the sort of circumstances that might kick off Lord of the Flies unless they make better choices than that!
