To go from a shutdown first and a home run on the first pitch of the game to this is a real gut punch.

If it wasn’t clear before, Perkins is an enormous upgrade in CF over Sal. Sal is amazing in RF but CF is a different animal altogether.

This MIXED with the fact that it basically never happens in the playoffs highlights just how poor the offense has been. Just abysmal.

In the Brewers' previous 283 games entering the NLCS, only twice did an opposing starter get through 8 innings.

It's happened twice through two games this series.

It’s fair to say snell and yoshi were great but the approach and execution from brewer hitters is inexcusable. There’s a reason guys don’t go this deep in the playoffs—to let back to back starters to 8 with zero stress is beyond explanation.

I will admit I expected the dodgers to win this series but I didn’t expect the brewers to go out sad like this. This is embarrassing. Just the worst absolute time to play your worst ball of the year.

Outside of a rally in the 9th yesterday, which was mostly walks by the dodgers, the dodgers haven’t broken a sweat in this series. This has to be the lowest stress NLCS they’ve ever had.

HE ALSO HIT .275 WITH 27 HOME RUNS. Using this as your example is hilarious.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Again, the dodgers have been so much better but every bit of luck on batted ball outcomes has gone their way. Every hard hit ball outside of the Chourio home run has been caught.
stpaulite.bsky.social
The one time they extended themselves for a bat it was Rhys Hoskins and they imploded.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Except they won’t get another bat. They’ll re sign Jake Bauers and keep doing exactly what they’re doing because it maximizes revenue for mark.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Sadly, take a look at his career playoff stats. They’re atrocious. He has 3 career playoff RBIs.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Shocking that the relievers you drove into the ground aren’t that effective anymore. I like a lot about pat murphy but this is truly malpractice.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Also using andy pages as the example is hilarious. He hit .275 with 27 home runs. That would have been the second best hitter on the brewers.
stpaulite.bsky.social
And then the dodgers get a double on a lazy fly ball.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Again. The offense hasn’t been great but they’ve had basically zero batted ball luck since game 1 of the division series. Chourio just hit that ball 111.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Doesn’t he have to face 3?
stpaulite.bsky.social
Having covid when he did hurts. You miss training camp AND are likely getting over the lung issues.
stpaulite.bsky.social
They basically have 5 auto outs in the lineup right now. Turang, yelich, sal, durbin and Ortiz are just non competitive. It’s making Chourio and Contreras feel like they need to hit home runs (they do) and the pitchers feel like they need to be perfect.
stpaulite.bsky.social
8 runs in 5 games. Only 1 run via a hit with RISP.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Also, though he was great against the cubs he was throwing 97-98 on Saturday instead of his usual 100-101.
cyrthogg.bsky.social
Abner Uribe, a night after his sinker was sitting 95-97 mph, is up in the Brewers bullpen. He got six outs on Saturday, too.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Shit. Perkins catches that.
stpaulite.bsky.social
I honestly can’t believe Murphy has Ashby and Uribe warming. This is malpractice health wise but also baseball wise. These guys are gassed.
stpaulite.bsky.social
I agree but they’re also getting zero batted ball luck, rather the opposite. Nearly every hard hit ball is right at someone.
stpaulite.bsky.social
Again. The offense hasn’t been great but they’ve had basically zero batted ball luck since game 1 of the division series. Chourio just hit that ball 111.
stpaulite.bsky.social
and again
stpaulite.bsky.social
obviously they got the HR but contreras hit that ball 106 off the bat. just really rough batted ball luck in the last few days.

AJ is getting targeted on *every* possession. it's crazy. he's a fundamental defender but he's just undersized.
