When I came onto the book, Peter was no longer working for the Bugle.
I find it interesting that despite your long tenure on the book, you didn't write Jonah a whole lot.

Which I get, it'd be hard to fit him in with the story you were telling at the time. Just something I notice when he gets the spotlight like this.

The problem here is not dissembling, it's inaccuracy on your part. Sinclair fishing was the projected end for a potential SEQUEL SERIES, Babylon Prime. The "reveal" you cite is my published original breakdown for the TWO series; in that outline B5 the series ends just as I said: with the explosion.
J. Michael Straczynski famously said he knew before filming began exactly how Babylon 5 would end, and what the final shot would be. He later revealed the shot would be of an unrevealed character sitting by a lake, fishing.

That was not how the show ended. Creators dissemble, and plans change.

I really don't ever go down those sorts of paths, the show has to stand on its own.
How different would Talia's arc have been from Lyta's if Andrea hadn't left?
December 21, 2025 at 7:10 PM
You just have to feel how it will change, there's not one way to do it. It's a kind of dance...you change a step, or do a misstep, and you just sort of intuit the next step and fold it in so it doesn't look like you changed anything. At least that's how I handled it.
@straczynski.bsky.social you've mentioned in many places that for Babylon 5, you always had a way for a main character to depart the show in case the actor needed to leave. how did you manage the impact this would have on the plot and ensure the story could still be told?

Lettered preview of issue three of THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN: TORN, from me and Pere Pérez, hitting stores this Wednesday. The MJ/Gwen/Peter dynamic becomes even more complicated, and we discover things about Evangeline that will develop her far beyond who and what we think she is.

I have a policy of not promising anyone anything unless I'm 100% sure it's going to happen, and that's not the current situation. I have no idea what their programming needs are going to be, the internal politics going on, and the deal still has a ways to go before being formally approved.
December 6, 2025 at 12:32 PM
Thanks...it's an okay episode aside from the point of the story being lobotomized out by committee.
@straczynski.bsky.social
I've been slowly working my way through the series, waiting for your first appearance. Finally, it is here.

Busted and in the back yard, or I'd fix this shit.
@straczynski.bsky.social Hi Mr Stracynski.

I said this to you a while ago but with recent events I feel it's once again important to state that I really loved Bablyon 5. But I much preferred it when it was conspiratorial and paranoid not prescient to the point of wondering if you had a time machine
November 23, 2025 at 3:16 AM
No.
@straczynski.bsky.social I apologize for bothering you on bsky, but a random redditor asked that I confirm a supposition I made about Captain Lochley.

When crafting the character and her backstory (The Clark coup) did you draw from historical precedent to inform what side she was on then?
November 21, 2025 at 1:17 AM
Not that I hold a grudge or anything....
I love that they convinced Straczynski to return, and the first thing he did was write about how much they'd ruined Janine, and made it canon to the show 😆

Those changes that the network mandated for the show was ridiculous. IIRC they wanted to relegate Winston to 'the driver' and remove Ray.

Sometimes when I write down what the characters say, they get a laugh out of me. This was one of them.

I wondered the same thing when I saw the finished issue. Didn't even occur to me until then. But I haven't asked. There are some things Joe was not meant to know.
Is that you in the penthouse suite with the orange cat?

Four page preview of issue two of The Amazing Spider-Man: Torn, hitting stores this coming Wednesday.
I just put up a preview of next week's #2, and the breakfast scene at the start really ties in beautifully with those elements.

Great to see, thank you. Given those elements, I think issue 2 will come across even stronger.

That sounds about right. I ran into the earliest BBS systems probably around the same time as Captain Power was in production, so our long national nightmare began somewhere around 1987.
Wikipedia notes your B5-related online presence since "around 1991"; a footnote adds that your earliest fan-archived GEnie post "clearly references earlier discussions now lost to time"; also noted is that you "participated in many online forums since the 1980s."
