Same here, we also use their touchscreen machines here in Chicago. And while they print out a machine-marked ballot, it *is* human-readable to check how your vote will be recorded, and we put them through the same ballot scanner as the hand-marked paper ballots most voters use.

Either way, there's a senile old man being propped up in front of a TV camera and microphone and being puppet-mastered by young Nazis who want to commit genocide even more than the hateful, delusional old guy does.

The Divine Movie Critic Hath Spoken, I guess.

Remember that planet you and Kirk beamed down on, where one guy took advantage of some pre-existing ethnic tension and suddenly turned everyone into Nazis for some reason? More like them.

Caviezel got struck by lightning last time he played Jesus in a Mel Gibson film. He probably found a very polite way to say, thanks, but no thanks.

The kind of MAGA moron who'd do this is not afraid to go to Hipster-Liberal Portland. But they are afraid to come to Chicago. Way too many actual racial minorities here.

Much higher in the close vicinity of time warps.

This makes entirely too much sense.

Yes!

IMO, the emergence of the unprofessional “edgelord” style of RW communication (and governance) is directly connected to the diminishing of teen-only spaces and media.

We all share the same space now and since developing brains can’t mature overnight, adults are devolving into…4Channers.

You misunderstand. She's not running to Coach for protection *from* you, but *for* you. She's asking Coach to handle you, because the Klingon who likes to torture kids (by making them play Dodgeball and do Burpees) will be gentler on you than Scougs would be if they had to handle you themselves.

"The girlfriend of one of the founders of Antifa."
martinthemess.bsky.social
Wasn't the point of that episode that her pacifist and isolationist "ignore foreign problems to focus on helping the poor here at home" just ensured there wouldn't be enough resources available to stop Hitler and he conquered and/or destroyed the world? She's about as far from Antifa as you can get.

There's apparently a novelization or something that explains it was all a stupid cultural misunderstanding, but yeah, the fact that they simultaneously did NOT reveal the name or motivation of the aliens, and really did hint pretty heavily that the aliens are NOT bad guys, is a fascinating choice.

T3 is a really good movie that had the bad luck to be a sequel to two all-time classics. Yeah, it's not as good as the other two, but it is not bad by any stretch of the imagination. See also, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, another good movie stuck between two even better ones.

Battleship is definitely a guilty pleasure. So ridiculous in so many ways, but as a Modern Naval Warfare geek, it's a rare case to see AEGIS destroyers in serious action.

I haven't seen Moonfall yet, but I'll have to check it out sometime.

My college did a Star Trek film festival to celebrate the release of Generations, they showed all six TOS movies over like 3 days. Most of them were well attended, but I was one of three people in the theater for The Motion Picture.

My personal fave Trek film, however, is #5. Spock kills God.

The art direction alone is worth it. Throw in the amazing international cast (even if many of them get little to work with) and it's a solid movie.

Does...does anyone actually say different?

We still make reference that that show occasionally, especially the line "How did I not know that the *one* thing to survive the Apocalypse would be...The Macarena?"

I used to live just down the street from the North American HQ of the International Workers of the World. Was convenient to be able to grab a copy of their newspaper from the box outside the office without having to go to any meetings or pay any membership dues.

It wouldn't be a real Leftist movement if it hadn't at some point schism-split over some incredibly minor bit of doctrine into two identically named organizations each claiming to be the "real" one and accusing the other of "deviationism".

Ah, fond memories of writing the Bylaws for the Armchair Anarchist Party. We banned use of Robert's Rules of Order. We had a "Battle and Pillage Committee" and a "Committee to Entertain C.S. Lewis". We had a rule that "Quorum shall consist of however many members show up." And the Uni accepted it.

The Rhodesian government seemed determined to make Apartheid South Africa look good by comparison.
