This argument needs to be made more often. Don't accept the framing of the anti-immigrant/anti-refugee bigots. To hell with them. Immigration is a good thing. So is Integration into a modern country. Accepting refugees and giving them a safe place to make their new home is an even better thing.
Above all it’s offensive that we should deliberately try to reduce the number of *successful* asylum claims. We are still a wealthy country. We welcome a (shamefully) tiny share of the world‘s refugees. It should be an honour & pleasure to welcome people who need sanctuary. Shame on Labour. /end
