Watched Obsession the other day. Decent but flawed movie. De Palma was right though, Robertson totally didn’t have what it takes to convey the anguish the character should be feeling. Guy watches his wife and daughter blow up and just looks like this:

Feel like it’s a huge problem with modern arcade throwbacks, where they’re really solid in their foundations, but just not nearly hard enough. So many of these games are in a big need of some juiced up difficulty.

Seeing CAG people/ARPG fans compare make-your-own-fun to credit feeding in arcade games is funny. Even if the comparison was 1:1, do these idiots not realize the kind of damage credit feeding as a mechanic caused to the entire FORMAT? Yeah, the original Ghosts’n Goblins is very high up on my favorites list. Just embodies so much of what I value in games. Strong mix of routing with mean randomness to offset you, committal controls, all about positioning and movement, very snappy and immediate, well paced.
