When my daughter entered secondary school, she had no interest in any sport.

But the school expected every single child to play for a school team, every year, interested or not.

The theory is that they may discover something that they love.

Think Steven Gerrard should be given a shot at Liverpool.

If I was convinced by what Shabana Mahmood is saying about immigration, I'd vote Reform. If I was dubious but then persuaded my on balance, I'd vote Reform.

I don't understand what they think they are doing.

This is crazy.
Home Secretary Shabana Mahmood made more explicit her argument that when ethnic minorities face racism, "we have no choice but to ask: what is the cause of our division"

Her answer is the level of net migration, 2019-23 causes racism. (She on Monday said it was caused by the scale of asylum)

I think they should negotiate this series being ten tests long. Looks like it won't need any extra scheduled days.

This sums up Labour so far to me.
It’s amazing how they keep managing to not take the unpopular steps to actually fix things, but acquire the unpopularity as if they had. It’s sheer incompetence at every level: strategy - wrong, presentation - wrong, end goals - nobody knows. Absolute tragedy.

My 15 year old daughter just told me that she doesn’t know a single person her age that smokes normal cigarettes.

I bought what I thought was a very nice designer label jumper. It was discounted.

Tried it on, took tags off.

My wife arrives home: “you’re wearing a Halloween jumper. That’s, err, not like you.”

Me: “isn’t a Halloween jumper”

Her: “it has cobwebs all over it. Did you not notice the pattern?”

😐

My wife: “We have way too many hangers. Throw 80 or so out”

Fast forward two weeks and an amazon parcel arrives with hangers in.

Me: 😶

Would you like some cake?
Son: yes please.
Me: it’s a bike bit. Shall I chop it?
Son: no it’s ok Daddy. I have a fork.

My three year old had a massive tantrum going into preschool today.

I don’t think it will be the worst one of the day given the Peace Prize announcement.

They’ve infringed his free speech by daring not to be present. Or something.
Packed hall for Toby Young.

Why would you bother going to this when I thoroughly explored it in my blog about what we can learn from Gareth Southgate?

I have two tickets (circle, row 1) to Sigur Ros and the London Contemporary Orchestra on 1st October at the Royal Albert Hall.

We can no longer make it due to work commitments.

They were £75 each plus booking fee but will let them go for whatever you can afford.

I cannot think of any way in which the DFE can frame expectations of communication with parents that will be anything but worse than what schools do now by having their own systems and expectations.

At best it will be the same, but centralising creates unintended consequences.

Just been reminded of when my kids stayed with my Mum and on their return saw a Union Jack, then describing it as a “Scottish flag with a cross on it”.

Important again to recognise that my wife and I can be in the same session (with Becky Francis) at #rED25 because of the free crèche that is available.

This is unusual and is an example of genuine inclusion.
