TIL - when Gremlins was released in 1984 it was given a 15 rating in the UK… I always thought it was a PG.

But then, the things my parents allowed me to rent from the local video shop… I'm not surprised I thought that.

awesome little #a11y bookmarklet from @lloydi.com

(check out the other ones they have on that page, it's a right ol' treasure trove)
Screenshot of a UI design tool showing component states for a 'New Post' button. The interface displays a dark-themed modal window titled 'Component states' with a close button (X) in the top right. The modal shows five different interactive states: Default, Hover, Focus, Active, and Disabled. Each state displays a blue button with a pencil icon and 'New Post' text. The first four states (Default, Hover, Focus, Active) include warning indicators showing 'Low contrast: 2.39:1' with triangle warning icons. Each row has a trash icon button on the right. Below the states is a section titled 'ARIA attributes found' listing two attributes: aria-label: 'Compose new post' and aria-pressed: 'false'. The interface appears to be from an accessibility or design system testing tool.

😍 Great idea, made by the awesome @jakearchibald.com.
Spend a few minutes to select and rank what matters to you and improve the web platform for everyone!

As an experiment, we (the Firefox team) wanted to try a new way to get feedback on which Interop proposals matter most.

So, here's a web app where you can rank the proposals you care about, giving us data we can use when reviewing which ones to champion.

“I feel like web developers are constantly being gaslit into thinking that complex over-engineered solutions are the only option. […] That’s not good for users, and I don’t think it’s good for us either.”

then we have a bookmarklet that lists out any and all third party links to CSS and JS
The image displays a list of external CSS and JavaScript (JS) files used in a webpage. Each entry specifies the type (CSS or JS) and the corresponding URL for the resource.

next a bookmarklet that displays any inline <style> tags on a page
The image displays a code editor or development environment showing an inline CSS style block. The CSS defines various font-face rules for the "GH Guardian Headline" and "Guardian Egyptian Web" fonts, specifying their sources and styles. Below the code, there is promotional text from the Guardian Weekly magazine, encouraging subscriptions for in-depth news coverage, with a special offer of 50% off for three months. The bottom of the image features a partially visible graphic related to news content, likely from the Guardian.

first up, but this is still a prototype.

'Design System checker'

A simple bookmarklet that marks anything without a define class prefix with a red outline, instead of a green outline.
The image features a webpage header titled "Exploring the secrets of life," highlighting the European Molecular Biology Laboratory (EMBL) as a key institution in biological research. Below the header, there's a section labeled "Latest updates from EMBL's six sites," showcasing recent articles with illustrations related to scientific advancements. The articles include topics like a partnership with Google DeepMind, microbial DNA research, embryonic development, and an interview with Amandine Nunes-Jorge about ocean research. Each article is accompanied by a date indicating its publication.

going to try and carve out some time to write up about some recent bookmarklets I've been working on.

As well as a little article explaining them all I'm wondering if a fresh 'bookmarklets' page on my site would be a nice to have.
