Queer ascetic nomad, traveling around the US in Subarus since 2015. Reading a lot of books. Weird abolitionist, anti-prohibition, AI-hating tendencies. Went to school for psych & math, working in software begrudgingly

The most important thing about me is that in 2015, I gave away almost everything I owned that didn't fit into a Subaru Outback and entered homelessness, as a nomad. Thus my tag, which really started as the name of my blog where I wrote of my travels.

I got really into long distance hiking, too
Anza Borrego Badlands Route (Full Loop)
I woke Thursday morning to temperatures hovering around freezing, cold as hell in Blair Valley. Struggling to gain the motivation to pack up my gear and begin heading out, I delayed as the sun rose…

Elon Musk couldn’t figure out how to make a pop tart without hurting himself
one thing thats kinda crazy to get your head around is not that the musk and thiel masters of the universe are ungrateful for the vast public infrastructure, public funding of research, and robust systems of laws and rules that made their wealth possible. it's that theyre too dumb to understand it

White House platforming a guy who films people w/o consent & has 14 felony charges for identity theft (his own unhoused “clients”) and fraud, described as “targeting & victimizing” vulnerable people.

In addition to lying about harm reduction, he pushes the false fentanyl “door knobbing” conspiracy.
*reads an entire article about Trump using "common sense" the way he does*

I want to shoot my fucking brain into a million pieces
But my annoyance with all of this started with studying addiction. So I blame studying addiction for breaking my brain. But also, mostly, it's just that capitalism is a fucking schizophrenic mess and liberals annoy the shit out of me about it.
But you see this on fucking everything with capitalists. Oh, this industry doing bad? Well, why don't these dirty consumers pay them more. And don't you dare suggest it's the CEO making $5m a year and replacing everyone in the industry with AI that doesn't even work. How dare you mention that!
It just doesn't actually make any sense to analyse that as, "How do we treat individual cases of addiction to reduce ODs?" That's fucking nonsense. That's not how ODs even work by any fucking data we actually have. And we have a lot!!
E.g. most ODs are accidentally taking too much because naivete or unpredictable dosing (latter keeps being shown to be primarily caused by prohibition policing). Not because they're a helpless addict--those hypothetical people have the actual preventative effect against OD lol.
It *really is* the whole OD crisis and looking at the numbers around it versus political arguments made over it. The stats just don't make any sense to be pushing "force all the addicts into treatment" as a prevention against OD. It's just completely nonsense with even a shallow review of the data.
One of the ways that studying addiction broke my brain is that I just can't with capitalist analysis a lot any more. I'm gonna have to explain this one, lol ...

This is another one of those examples of how bluesky is an actual social media

Was reading an article earlier about how people use 'Like' on other social media platforms to 'program' the algorithm picking posts for their For You Page, but... there's no algorithm like that here.
Reminder that this website has NO ALGORITHM

a like is nice, but if you want others to see a post, you gotta repost it. Art especially.
Coworker is currently having a day at it over a driver for a barcode scanner that attached to our system, and it's just like ... Dude, either we realize we're not that strict in this system as like a med pump lol, or we don't support barcode scanners lmfao
The fun of working as a software engineer in medical spaces is everyone on the team has a fucking day about "The FDA is gonna fuck us if we don't course correct this issue." And like 9/10 of them turn out overblown because we're not a device attached to a patient.
They talk like we have 3+ parties while demanding we act like there's only 2, on the one hand. And on the other hand, they create a "center" by creating a nonexistent Boogeyman "left" and then downplaying the fascists on the right as not possibly worse than their left boogeyman
The thing that fucking drives me bonkers about the centrists and the "We must move to the center to win" is that they all get feverishly obsessed that there can only possibly be 2 parties. So. Center of what?! They literally just don't have ANY principles.
Mike Johnson is too busy clutching his children and crying out of pure fear that George Soros is going to steal them from him to know anything that's actually happening with anything
I gotta be honest, man...

If you're attitude about... Honestly, if your attitude about *anything* is "Oh well, might as well live with it now," you don't get to call anyone else "doomer", and if you do, we all get to call you a full of shit doomer in returns

Sometimes you have to just gasp in horror.

It's not that she just ignores her own family history. It's that she understands it, has discussed it with her actual refugee grandfather, & still thinks he's not just wrong, but "nuts", & her vile exclusionary racism is good.

Completely conscious evil.

How many strikes against a candidate will it take for people to say "maybe this guy's not the guy" ?

How many strikes would it take if he weren't a white man
Dracula is just so damn good haha
Lol my parents were like the best and worst in all the ways. Sometimes they just accidentally did the best *for me* after any failing by just giving me tools to do silly shit like learn to code and give me whatever books I asked for to deal with it all on my own terms.lmfao
My parents were smart, but my dad will tell you himself he got TF out of software engineering after seeing what I was doing as his young kid and going, "Yup, I need to find something less smart than that." And I think that's rad.
Like, I know I have CPTSD and shit or whatever, but I just do not, still, get the argument that parents should be able to help their kids with their homework. And it's not just that I'm anti-homework (I mean, it *is*....). It's that your kids deserve to be smarter than you by means of being your kid
