Masters of disguise those tricky Puffins 😉

Well just like that, it’s October and after 2 blank visits the first #ColourRinged Shag is back on #Blyth East Pier. However, I wasn’t expecting it to be Red BBVE, last year’s @bardseybirdobs.bsky.social juvenile ringed at Tornado Ledge on 8/7/24. I wonder where it’s been since April ?

Aye, next thing I’ll be #outside the ladies at St Mary’s with you and the rest of the People’s Republic seawatchers 😉

The prime site at Ridley Park #Blyth failed to deliver any for me today.

Phew ! Just inside my 10 mile from home radius. 🎣

The Raptorfest of the last few days continues at Seaton Sluice. Osprey, Marsh Harrier and Peregrine all south today following on from yesterday’s in off Hen Harrier. #NEbirding

It’s a stunner ! Flew north past Seaton Sluice this afternoon before quickly doubling back the the People’s Republic. Obviously didn’t fancy the look of Blyth 😉

Does it get any better did you say? …..it certainly does ! Look at this beautiful 🤪leucistic Herring Gull which entertained us at Seaton Sluice whilst failing miserably to connect with the Honey Buzzard despite your gallant efforts with directions.

To the left of the Pygmy Cormorant I reckon 🤪

Hoping for a millennium tick 😉

125 Cormorants at the #Blyth East Pier roost tonight and first 2 Shags of the autumn put in a brief appearance. Should be starting to pick up some of the regular #ColourRinged wintering birds soon.

Ringed in 2022 near Wilhelminadorp in The Netherlands. Was seen at St Mary’s Island in 2023 and 2024.

Thanks we’ve found it now. The colour ring is on wrong leg 🙄

@g76birder.bsky.social any ideas on this scheme ?

Been trying to track this one down all week with no joy what so ever. Why are some ringing schemes so flipping cryptic! #BirdingUK #NEbirding

Birding in the 80’s I’d have Black Tern as a “pretty much guaranteed” in the county each year. I haven’t seen one on the patch for 5 years

We got the same minus the dog

30+ Little Egrets at Castle Island, Northumberland yesterday included Black F/Orange J which I had on the #Blyth Estuary last August. Ringed at Verulamium Lake Hertfordshire on 7/5/2021. A bird from the same scheme (Black Z / Orange A) was also present. @ntbirdclub.bsky.social #hertsbirds #NEbirding

First couple of fly past sightings of #ColourRinged birds at Seaton Sluice at the weekend so we should be picking a few up at the Blyth East Pier roost soon.

Not many birds about today but two colour-flagged Redshank. CTN at Low Hauxley - (from the Wash Wader Group) and the returning bird to Coquet Estuary, back for a 4th year (originally ringed on the Humber). #NEbirding Two in one day!
