Being #naked removes the physical and psychological barrier between the person and the environment. You are not just observing the space, you are directly interacting with it through your whole body. #naturism

Risk, peril and awe
In this post, I explore some of the patterns of biophilic design: categorized into nature interactions, spatial qualities, and the psychological impact of environments. The feelings of risk, peril,…

When we go #naked in nature ( #naturism), we experience total sensory coherence. All our senses work together to tell us what is going on. However, we deliberately mask our largest sense organ in buildings. Clothes are to the skin as smearing Vaseline on your spectacles is to vision wp.me/pgKalA-9m
Biophilic designers often forget our largest sense organ

I recently spent a few days in the New Forest, including a nice, long walk (15km). Too cold for a #naturist walk, but I could feel an almost irresistible urge to strip off and absorb the benefits of #forestbathing . There is sound science behind the practice too

#Biophilia is our innate need to connect with nature, and is rooted in our evolutionary history.
#Biophilicdesign is all about creating environments that evoke that connection
#Naturism takes biophilia and biophilic living to its logical conclusion

I write my web site, and post on Bluesky anonymously. There are good reasons for that, as this post explains. However, there may be reasons for revealing my identity as well. For the time being, my #naturist interests may be a barrier to work, but who knows about the future?
Why I remain anonymous (for now)
You may have noticed that I am currently writing this website anonymously. This might seem odd, as one of the points of the site is to discover possible business opportunities and collaborations. So, who am I? Should I reveal myself?

More evidence for the health benefits of #naturism. Modern indoor lighting may be bad for your health, but there are ways to overcome the lack of beneficial wavelengths. Get #naked and immerse your body in full spectrum light. Take part in #naturist #forestbathing
Light for health
On November 17, I attended the Biophilic Design Conference in London, where Ulysse Dormoy discussed the health impacts of modern office lighting, particularly the absence of near-infrared (NIR) light. This deficiency may impair mitochondrial function, accelerate aging, and disrupt circadian rhythms, emphasizing the need for full-spectrum lighting in built environments. This post also explores the benefits of total immersion in better light and explains possible additional benefits to naked forest bathing and naturism.

By baring all and removing that which separates us from nature we can then truly become part of nature. It is both liberating and challenging to be so exposed.

A heightened sense of vulnerability can be enlightening and thought-provoking, and maybe even a bit thrilling.

Safe vulnerability
This article explores the idea of aletheia, or truth revealing, through vulnerability in nature. It emphasizes the liberating yet challenging experience of being completely exposed to, and immersed in nature whilst also being safe. Suggestions on how to foster this connection at home are offered as well as ideas about wild swimming and accessing and creating secluded areas for contemplation.

Connection with nature is critical for our wellbeing, and access needs to be easier. Total immersion in nature is even better for us, so #naturism is something to be enabled and encouraged for health, and should be an aim for #naturist orgs, such as BN etc al

We are failing to achieve true sensory coherence in the built environment because we are ignoring a fundamental sensory organ of human connection: the skin. #Naturism might be the antidote. #nakedwellness #biophilia
Biophilic designers often forget our largest sense organ
Biophilic design aims to reconnect humans with nature, countering urban stress. However, clothing creates barriers that hinder sensory interaction with the environment, resulting in sensory dissonance. Embracing naturism enhances interoceptive awareness, promoting self-acceptance. Designing Aletheic Spaces can foster deeper connections to nature, emphasizing authenticity and sensory engagement for overall well-being.

We are constantly told by the media and authorities that these are both 'forest'.

One is a complex, diverse native ecosystem, full of life. The other is an industrial monoculture deadzone.

They could not be more different.
