Quick trip to the shore this afternoon and got to interact with two of my favorite things- birds and minerals!

The rock collection im currently cataloging has a volcanic BOMB 😱
Me holding a "volcanic bomb", which formed from viscous molten rock being ejected from a volcano and cooling during its descent. Often have aerodynamic shapes, such as the example seen here.

Yep all corundum as long as its not red would be sapphire. Even pure Al2O3 with no Fe/Ti component would still be sapphire. Think ppl tend to veer towards calling it corundum when in rough / mineral form, but both are still acceptable
