I find there's a huge mismatch between the standard advice that people give about scientific conference talks, and how people actually give talks.

So I picked out the most important pieces of advice that are most often ignored. 🧪

New R-package alert! 🚨

With tabs it has never been easier to reconstruct altitudinal shifts of biogeographical systems over time. Whether in the ocean 🏝️, shallow seas 🪸 or mountains ⛰️; tabs can project spatial configurations shaped by climatic conditions.

I am ready for IBS with abstracts and the organization of a symposium of Quantitative Paleoecology!

Are you happy being part of IBS? Do you think that keeping such society is important?

Please consider/renew membership so that IBS can continue! Finances are low and efforts high.

Thanks 😍
Care to learn about the latest biogeography research? Come join us in the beautiful city of Aarhus, Denmark in January 2026 for our 12th biannual conference! Abstract submission is open until September 1st. See more details here 👇

Which paleoclimate dataset do you use for your research?

In my latest research, I compared temperature estimates from five well-known paleoclimate datasets to proxy data and found that inter-dataset variability can strongly affect temperature-delimited reconstructions. 🧵
