I am a retired German professor, my mother lost her father on the Russian front in WWII, spent the first years of her life in a refugee camp and lived on the border of newly formed East Germany. I am quite confident we are not yet living in a fascist state. They are trying, but they haven't won yet.

2/ I hear nothing of Dems rebuilding, voter drives, candidate recruitment. It's utter malpractice. Our best ability to push back is in the upcoming midterms and the Dems are largely silent. It's pathetic to watch.

Hell, the Nazi SA was beating up and killing political opponents before Hitler came to power. They ramped it up immediately after he was made Chancellor.

Within the first month of Hitler becoming Chancellor in Jan 1933, the Nazis had already rounded up about 50,000 political prisoners. Dachau was established in March 1933 to handle all of them. There they were subject to torture and murder.

Hitler became chancellor in January 1933. By February 1933, all German civil rights were taken away, including the freedom the press, expectation of private speech, assembly, etc. The Nazis consolidated total power within 3 months.
