Monetization. Obviously running a game like this is not free (infrastructure wise, let alone my time spent on it).

I don’t want the game to become pay-to-win, so building it with eventual monetization in mind is a hard requirement.

Spam. I need to find a good balance between encouraging interactions and making sure players don’t spam just to win the game.

Content. This type of game requires new content all the time. For players it’s a passive game (sign up, join a cycle, forget about it), but the admin (me) needs to keep adding new variants, schedule new cycles, etc.

Scale. I’ll likely need to capture a good percentage of people on the AT protocol before it’s even remotely playable with a good chance you’ll interact with another player.

Balancing. Finding the right starting % to “infect”, infection chances, and other small gameplay tweaks I’ll probably need to make before I can consider it “done”.

Though I don't really keep my left fingers rested on the asdf keys (or I suppose adf keys in this case) when pressing Option. I sort of lift my whole hand to reach under there haha

Is there a well-maintained list of projects built on #atproto? I'm looking for actual, real projects using the protocol. Not just another AppView or a bot.

Building on this: Plague, Inc (the game), but IRL.

Every so often, a random person gets “infected” and has a small% chance of infecting someone nearby and/or mutating resistances.

Players’ collective job is to stop the spread by completing challenges, and working towards a cure.

I’ll probably also get rid of my subscription to #Headspace, tbh. Over the past ~5 years (!!!) I’ve gotten everything I wanted to out of it.

I’ll probably keep meditating, as it’s been massively helpful to me over the years. But I don’t need an app to guide me anymore.

Just broke my 1800+ day meditation streak on #Headspace and honestly… it feels like a relief more than anything else.

Keeping the streak alive was starting to feel more important to me than the actual meditation practice, and that can’t be conducive to good mindfulness.
