i think i just like games that are all about spontaneous thinking instead of strategy. i never could get into rpgs because of that (even if active time combat serves to have both kinds of playstyles meet in the middle)

however adding on what ben said I think there should be options to turn that kind of gameplay off for like. less damage or something. not a lot of people like frequent mandatory button mashing

im unfortunately one of the people that likes QTE (or anything adjacent) in RPG's because the direct options dont ever feel engaging for me but i understand thats just kind of the appeal of the genre. i love shadow hearts 1 and 2 because the QTE mechanic (judgement ring) is both quick and active
