Republicans: we need to arrest and zip tie 13 year old immigrants without telling their parents they might be criminals.

I think traffic calming infrastructure helps a lot too also speed cameras.

New study from Melbourne finds reducing residential speed limits from 50km/h to 30 km/h on local roads would protect cyclists from danger, make riding less stressful and get more people cycling while not causing traffic delays for cars.
Switching 50km/h speed limits to 30km/h would protect cyclists while barely affecting commutes, research finds
One expert says a cyclist hit by a car travelling 50km/h has about a one-in-ten chance of surviving, while at 30km/h it was a nine-in-ten chance

Sometimes I think about how I was watching anime (before I even know what that was) on after school tv on the ABC as a kid in the 80s in Australia. I also watched so many US cartoons from the 50's 60's and 70's on early morning tv during the same period. I wonder how much it shaped me.

Share a cartoon from the past that kids today have probably never heard of

I am now humming that opening song, all those cartoons I watched as a kid in the 80s theme songs are embedded into my brain

That uses AI too but at least you can turn it off in the settings

You can criticise this victorian government for an awful lot but they are great at picking fights with wealthy inner suburban home owner nimbys over high density housing development plans.

To be honest i go to Williams Landing a fair bit on that line and it feels like half the time they make you change at flinders street anyway because its behind schedule.

It's going back to the city loop when the metro tunnel opens up fully next year.

to me it just feels like they are hedging their bets just in case there is a Democratic president some time in the future

I just figured out that non fiction audio books work really well for me but fiction ones kind of suck unless the narration is extremely good, if someone tries to put on a bad accent its game over. It means I definitely need to read all these paperback books I have sitting around the house.

Someone just said in a chat I am in that lots of AI generated crap has a "piss filter" and now I won't be able to unsee that because its extremely accurate.

The conservative view that a government should be run like a business obviously means you accidentally sack a bunch of your workers doing vital things and then try and pull it back a few hours later because you realize you really fucked up. I guess that actually is the Elon Musk model

I really should share my location with my family when I go on longer bike rides more, it gives them a lot of reassurance to not worry when they can just load up a website to check my progress whenever they want to, there's also the safety thing too.

Yeah riding without having to interact without any cars for hours is fantastic.

Are there some really nice rail trails up there? I can totally understand the young guy’s motivation to explore those they are cool.

I wonder if anyone sues them about this specific thing even though the politics of it make for a stupid "Democrats don't want to pay the military" sound bite.

Chicago priest Fr. Larry Dowling describes procession to ICE facility: “No one had the courage to speak directly to us. No one from Homeland Security could stand in the presence of the Monstrance holding the Blessed Sacrament. No wonder. Evil is repelled, recoils in the presence of Christ.”

I made the switch to duckduckgo search engine, lets see how it goes, at least I can turn off their AI summary shit directly in the settings.
