Valles Caldera ~
The caldera formed by collapse in a series of volcanic eruptions from about 1.4 to 1.1 million years ago. But the geologic evolution of the caldera has continued to today.

Couldn’t get as close as I’d like, but still fun watching this muskrat (and a shy companion) navigate this marsh which was covered in a thin layer of fresh ice.

The rugged Canadian Shield is a place where you walk on rocks that are billions of years old. The area I live in has more lakes than people.

Snow geese flocking up at a nearby marsh. Also had fun watching muskrats pop up and down through a thin layer of fresh ice which I’ll post later.

Northern lights over northern Alberta. Usually looking for nice foregrounds to include but couldn’t resist just pointing up and clicking away.

I spent a lovely evening on my favorite mountain here in Austria. The autumn vibes were ….unreal …the Alps glowing in golden light, crisp air all around, and nature showing off it’s best colors. I took some time to slow down, capture the moment, and enjoy the peace up there. What do you guys think?

Not great at identification but think these may be high bush cranberries. They have been picked over by birds.
