I proudly introduced the American Dream and Promise Act today because Dreamers are America. They strengthen our communities, contribute every day, and deserve permanent protections. #HomeIsHere
Over 103,000 people in TX-29 rely on SNAP to put food on the table.

That’s why I’m joining my colleagues in calling on the USDA to use emergency funds to keep benefits flowing during this Republican shutdown.

No family should lose food assistance because of Republican games in Washington.
With SNAP funding set to lapse, 42M children and families are at risk of experiencing hunger.

I am leading 213 House Democrats in calling on the USDA to use contingency reserve dollars and all legal authority to fund SNAP during this shutdown.

While Republicans shut down the government and threaten affordable health care, @housedemocrats.bsky.social are fighting back for working families.

Join me TOMORROW Wednesday at 6:00 PM for a Telephone Town Hall to discuss how we protect health care and lower costs for Houston families.
Republicans created a health care crisis and shut down the government. Families are paying the price.

Join me Wednesday at 6:00 PM for a Telephone Town Hall on how we fight back and protect affordable care for Houston families.
The @demwomencaucus.bsky.social is wearing purple for #PurpleThursday and Domestic Violence Awareness Month.

We stand with survivors, honor victims, and remain committed to ending domestic violence everywhere.

I co-sponsored @repemiliasykes.bsky.social Pay Our Military Act because we need to put politics aside and make sure our troops are paid.
Republicans just canceled votes again and refused to even consider the Democrats’ bill to pay our troops.

While Republicans extend their vacation, our service members are working through the shutdown without a paycheck.
111,000 people in TX-29 will see their health care costs skyrocket if Republicans don’t act to save ACA tax credits. Today, I met with El Centro de Corazón to discuss how the Republicans Big, Ugly Bill and rising costs are threatening access to care for families across our community.

Republicans and the Felon in the White House have shut down the government, putting vital services and millions of families at risk. While they play games with people’s lives, my office remains open and ready to fight for the people of TX-29.
My Houston and DC offices remain open to assist you with social security, veterans benefits, Medicare, and more, but you may face delays to get responses with federal agencies being decimated. Families in TX-29 deserve better.
Republicans and their leader, the Felon in the White House, shutdown the government instead of protecting health care for millions.
Democrats will be back in Washington ready to fight, lower costs, and keep our government open.
In just six days the government is set to shut down. And let’s be clear, this chaos is the Republicans’ fault. They would rather cater to the Felon in the White House than do their jobs and keep the government running. Working families pay the price.
Republicans control the House, Senate and White House.

If the government shuts down because they refuse to pass a bipartisan spending bill, it will be on Republicans.
It’s time to stand with immigrant families and deliver the security they deserve.
The Trump administration is tearing down protections for immigrants, dismantling Temporary Protected Status and parole programs that keep families safe
I joined @ramirez.house.gov to demand Congress pass the American Dream & Promise Act and give Dreamers and long-time residents a path to citizenship
Predators posing as ICE agents have harassed and assaulted women, exploiting masks, plain clothes and unmarked cars.

It is past time to act.
🚨 Women’s safety must be a priority.

I am leading a @demwomencaucus.bsky.social letter urging ICE to require agents to visibly and clearly identify themselves during immigration enforcement and hold impersonators fully accountable. ⬇️
DWC Members sent a letter calling out recent cases of people impersonating ICE to abuse women. We demand DHS and ICE wear visible identification to stop enabling impersonators.

Women deserve to be safe. We’ll keep fighting.
Today, that legacy is still under threat in Texas, where Republicans are redrawing the maps mid-decade to protect their power, not the people.

The struggle did not end in 1965. It is happening now, and the fight is far from over.
🗳️ On the 60th anniversary of the Voting Rights Act, we honor those who fought to bring democracy closer to all of us, especially historically underrepresented communities long shut out of power.

🚨 Republicans are illegally blocking $612 MILLION in approved funds from reaching schools in Texas. This is a huge blow to working families who depend on specialized learning courses & counseling to help their children succeed. @democrats-appropriations.house.gov

“Fight fire with fire": The Texas Legislature is back in session with Republicans pushing to carve out five new GOP seats. @sylviagarcia.house.gov joins The Weeknight to discuss.
Trump is trying to rig the 2026 election—because he knows his ideas are losing.

He’s targeting Texas because it’s a red state with leaders who’ll do his bidding. He called the Governor and said: I need five seats.

This isn’t democracy. It’s a power grab by the Felon in the White House.
