Despite the ordeal with Amtrak on the return trip home, it was actually quite the fun adventure in Ottumwa, Iowa and one I’m not soon going to forget.
And funny enough, the refund + travel voucher will help me cover my trip to San Francisco this spring/summer, so it all works out <3

No lie this has been an absolute shitshow on Amtrak's part. They had zero communication with us and a lot of us juts had to call to figure our own plans out.
To their credit they got us hotel rooms. That's it.

Either we’re getting bussed back to Chicago and have to take the train tomorrow, pray there’s an open seat on the one tonight (there isn’t one…), or spend even more money to limp to a larger city where we can rent a car. What a disaster, I might not be home until Thursday now…

Train home lost power multiple times, no working toilets, understaffed, etc. w/ a 6+ hour delay. However, all the furries here took a bad situation and made it a mini convention that’s STILL ongoing in the observation car.

Hate to admit I’ve slept 12 hours the last three days in a row, but between working overnights & that chaos of Thanksgiving, it’s nice to FINALLY be back on a regular sleep schedule.
Kinda sucks it took 3 days to get to this point though ^^;

Had a pretty good Thanksgiving, even though I slept most of it away and someone dinged my passenger door on the WRX. Woke up to a full Thanksgiving meal ready to go, so it was better than expected ^^

Good news is, I’m off until December 17th after I clock out in the morning, so I suppose I can’t complain too much. Home stretch, just gotta hang in there.

Sad to say that my roommate’s family’s beloved cat, Pickles, got hit by a car sometime today. While he wasn’t my own, he and I quickly grew inseparable over my time living here. Will genuinely miss him, I’ve never met a cat with a gentle soul quite like him. RIP bud.
