Bass & sweat & minivan guy in some bands that get/got asked to turn down
With new records from Mint Mile and PLOSIVS coming out on the same day, it’s a great release day for some of my favorite musicians still making great art 30+ years after I first heard their respective work

Played an all ages show last weekend and besides my band, and the two bands we knew ahead of time, pretty much everyone in a band or in the crowd was under 24, and there was ~75 people who paid, the kids can definitely be alright (and all wear the baggiest pants possible)

Unfortunately this, at least until someone makes a Bryan Kohberger film

This new Huskers box set is really great, the 1/30/85 show is probably a better introduction to them then any of the studio albums, and all the Candy Apple Grey material in the second half slays the album versions

New PLOSIVS album unsurprisingly rules, first song might be the chonkiest thing Reis has been on since "Luau", and overall it sounds a little less Hot Snakesy than the first album

Congratulations to Mayor-Elect Katie Wilson! @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social

I’m looking forward to working together in building a city that is affordable, safe, and thriving for working families!

And @wilsonforseattle.bsky.social jumps out to a much bigger lead with today's ballot drop -- from 91 votes yesterday to 1,346 today! Hard to see Harrell coming back now!

Katie Wilson now trails Bruce Harrell by 4,300 votes in Seattle's mayoral race, cutting her deficit by more than half following Friday's drop that added approximately 57,000 ballots to the tally.

Harrell - 116,435 (50.74%)
Wilson - 112,135 (48.86%)

Next results update Monday.

This must be 2004/5, definitely early tour stop in Chicago.

I want Katie Wilson to win as quickly and expeditiously as possible, but I also want Bruce Harrell to lose as slowly and painfully as possible

Always magical to see King County ballot sorting at work! This is in the mail-in/dropbox-only voting state of Washington.
November 5, 2025 at 11:14 PM
Worth noting that the KC ballot return stats already show there are ~60k ballots that haven't even been included in last night's results, and those haven't been refreshed since 6PM last night (and drop boxes didn't close till 8PM).
Seattle Mayor Bruce Harrell has a 7-percentage-point lead (53.3% to 46.2%) over progressive challenger Katie Wilson.

But there is a very good chance he will end up losing.

Just remembered an Xmas at my ex-in-laws in Casper, WY. They had a family friend who helped them out with money and gifts to my youngest SIL, including a signed copy of Dick Cheney's book, as they were good friends with the Cheney clan. All I could do to not start ranting on Xmas morning.

Someone got to be Dick Cheney for 84 years, unfortunately for the rest of the world

Anyway, Dick Cheney is a fossil fuel now. It's what he loved most. Besides killing.
I'll be skipping any obits that begin "Whatever you think of what he did as Vice President..." It's what you do when you think nobody can stop you that counts.

Always nice when you come across a video from a show you were actually at and it's as good as you remembered (and sounds and looks pretty good for a 15 year old iPhone video; also pretty sure that's @coreyjbrewer.bsky.social in the thumbnail behind Funds)

Oh hey, finally searched and found a recording of the first time I saw Neil live in 1999. Crowd is about as loud and raucous as I remembered (and I don't think the crowd when I saw him solo in Chicago in 2014 was hooting and hollering nearly as much)
