I have a vision! I would like to see them be the mascot for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics.
Pastel crayon drawing of a Peacock Jumping Spider on a twig, in bright primary colours. Where its two central eyes should be now the Olympic rings, there is a two person rowing icon on its tail-fan. Its third legs are up in a dance pose and its little leg pom-poms are exaggerated and colourfully matching its tail-fan. The drawing is by user - Talzir, the reference image is by photographer - Jurgen Otto.

Spooky season poem and a tadpole season poem for spring where I am. Happy birthday!!

It’s cool to see that the 🕷️ #Spider community is into this. I don’t think that there has ever been an invertebrate Olympic mascot, so that’d be extra cute!

Come in, and meet the missus.
User talzir, in a very budget Worm from Labyrinth costume. Blue plumes of feathers jut out from their head in three places, they wear orange glasses and an oranger scarf. They wear an expression that says “Allo!” The Worm from Labyrinth, an endearing Jim Henson little guy.

I just feel like you don't need ground news, you can already access wikipedia's list of reliable/perennial sources.
It's free, you can contribute to it, and it helps you understand how consensus is built, brick by boring brick.

It’s probably the locked tomb series, very silly, a little bit horny. Fun.

Would love to read your newsletter but please start a button down or something else, because substack are the baddies.

Listening to Graeber’s Debt, which lead me to search “Thomas Aquinas Neon Genesis Evangelion” which lead me to a blog with precisely the flavour of raving I was hoping for.

The ecstasy of mutuality in esoteric ranting that the internet has given us access to is -for my money- it’s greatest bounty.

So glad you’re ok! You’re looking lovelier than ever!

Way better use for them, than a dumping ground for Dan Brown books.

Lots of small community libraries in Victoria actually have these - zine vending machines!! They’re amazing.

What if instead of Albert Einstein it was Galbert Einstein and also it was she = mc²?

Orange Day in the lab yesterday.
A laboratory bench, with reagent bottles, glove boxes and analytical items. With an orange notebook, filled with sample information. And an orange lead pot for shielding. Several orange lidded Corning tubes. A scissors with an orange handle. And an orange stripper-saurus standing tall at the end of the bench.

Bad poetry is the life force of this poor earth. In reading bad poetry we are vulnerable and cruel at the same time. It confronts us with all the complexity of our own ambivalent relationship to sincerity (authenticity/cringe), to craft (skill/trickery), to our OWN HEARTS, to LIFE ITSELF.

Let's get behind National Bad Poetry Day! I believe this transcends national borders.

I love the audacity of native flowers here, to just look like pollen.
Multitudes of yellow puff ball flowers on an Australian Native plant. They look like pollen.

Hey, as a librarian I need to tell you:

Our funding depends on usage.

So go ahead and check out that book even if you don't think you'll finish it. No one will know. Check out that DVD even though you might not like it. Get ambitious in your quest for knowledge.

Love that she can’t use “gender nazis”, because that’s just her.

Stop me if you’ve heard this one - it’s because of sumptuary law and the literal taking up of space.
