Welcome new followers, thought would be a good time to do a little thread about the site.

I reported an issue a few weeks ago with Onbase running sluggish and not loading the links for supporting docs. Staff has reported back they've been working with the provider to mitigate. Related, they shared the maintenance windows for Onbase and posted them on the clerk's page

Council (and me) are back after a week off, my break lasted through Monday so the preview is a day late.

This week’s agenda includes an unscheduled $10 million turbine generator for the waste to energy plant plus council to vote on the proposed 25 story ferris wheel at the Florida Aquarium.

Council is off this week in observance of Yom Kippur but I wanted to cleanup some misstatements about the role of council workshops and what can be done.

SB 180 also used against Ybor parking changes enacted prior to the hurricanes even hitting Tampa. Primarily related to requiring lot owners to provide onsite security staff.

Need to copy some text from council's rules and procedures from a PDF which is always messy so I created a text based web version for future reference. Link to a pdf version also provided.

Couple of typos in the newsletter. It's been 36 years (not 26) since the fees were created and they were not updated in 2014 when the fee was renamed to "multi-modal". The online version of the post has been updated.

‘This was Council member @lynnhurtak.com’s third time with budget process and in that time no one else on council has demonstrated a willingness to get in the weeds with the numbers and follow through’

Finally, some final thoughts before the second reading and adoption of the FY26 budget.

My theme this year is "it's an adoption hearing." Council should know now they own the budget and are responsible for it. If they had any issues with a project or item, there was ample opportunity to change it.

Last night Tom DeGeorge, who garnered 10% of the vote, endorsed Young.
I want to thank our volunteers who spent timeless hours knocking and calling for this campaign. We reached so many people who told us that they had never felt seen in politics, and were ready to feel inspired. Win or not, we built a movement around fighting for a better Tampa.
We’re not done - this is the beginning of something much bigger.
That's why I wholeheartedly endorse Naya Young for District 5 City Council. We have to support candidates who inspire real change, and Naya will bring the energy and perspective our city deserves. She is the best person for the job, by far, and is truly a representation of the best this district has to offer. My team and I are ready to get to work for her, and we ask that you all join us.
Together, we are a force for change.
Thank you for your unwavering support.
Let's get to work.
