So in my 8:30pm panel at the Brisbane Writers Festival I forgot the words “raccoon” and “fairy floss” and started miming the meme but fortunately (?) someone in the audience guessed and shouted it out

Thanks to @tanaudel.bsky.social, who shared a link to a Mr Squiggle exhibition in Canberra, I have Bill Steamshovel stickers (& a pin!) coming my way. Also a postcard of Blackboard saying “Hurry up!”. Apologies to those who didn’t grow up with Mr Squiggle.

I was sorting through art for the World Fantasy Convention, but found this silhouette, cut from a cyanotype, of a figure in one of the little ghost stories in HONEYEATER.
Hand holding tiny silhouette on blue paper. A scarecrow figure of twigs.

Blue-faced Honeyeater
08/10/25
Pixelart illustration of a blue-faced honeyeater pouring sugar into a teacup. The bird species has an olive-coloured back, a black head and a white belly. Its name comes from the bright blue markings around its eyes. The tea cup is white with a golden brim. The bird stands on its brim and handle pouring in sugar from a sugar packet. The background is a minimalist drawing of some buildings. The main illustration is done in a realistic style.
