Protests arenโt the only tool in the anti-authoritarian toolkit, but theyโre incredibly important. Protests help us see each other; they make it feel safer to refuse to obey the dictator, and make it more possible for us to organize mass non-cooperation.
Itโs an essential step in the process.

Whatโs going on in the country isnโt peaceful. None of this is fun, and peopleโs lives are being affected and unjustly uprooted. Itโs kinda wild to me that anyone would focus on making protests palatable when the world currently isnโt.

Hot take: The current state of the country is enough reason to be in the streets protesting. It's not supposed to be a party. We need to get serious because none of this is a joke.
Not saying you won't have a laugh here and there, but that is far from the point of protesting.

The biggest thing we need to do is let people know that the protests are FUN. Yelling fuck the man is fun. You will meet fun people.
We also need to make them more fun. Bring grills like the French. Bring instruments like itโs Mardi Gras. Give people a reason to spend their weekend in the streets.
