We don’t just write about archaeology!

Here is our editor Tansy (pictured in red) who participated in a resistivity survey with the Suffolk Archaeological Field Group this past weekend! 🏺
Two men and a woman stand in a grassy field holding surveying equipment. They’re are all smiling at the camera.

This is so enormously sad! Unbelievable that the university management can't see the value in a collection like this.

👏👏 Congratulations to our colleague Marjolein D. Bosch on receiving an #ERC Starting Grant for her COPE project. She will explore how Ice Age hunters and gatherers responded to cold temperatures, resource scarcity 💦 🦌 🌱 , and environmental changes 30,000 years ago.

To be honest, I think if she has some experience I doubt that most PhD programmes would be looking for specific evidence. I think most archaeologists in this field have primarily learnt 'on the job', with the help of guide books.
tansybranscombe.bsky.social
If identification is the main goal, she might want to look into more biology/ecology themed courses/workshops (I'm afraid I don't have any specific suggestions for that!)
tansybranscombe.bsky.social
What kind of training is she after? Something traditional zooarch-y, identification, labwork techniques etc? I also don't know of specific courses, but in my experience there are plenty of lovely people working in the field who have always been very generous in giving their time to provide training

Today is my 32nd birthday and I’ll be donating £32 to a couple of Palestinian fundraisers - like Mustafa’s!

Mustafa has lost so much and needs our help to support his family in Gaza . Please consider donating at the link below and share his fundraiser widely!

A graphic split in three sections - the top section has white text on a red background which reads, "Donate to help out Mustafa and his family in Gaza!" with a white line drawing of an olive branch. The bottom left section depicts a photo of a small boy in a yellow jumper standing in the centre of a destroyed room on a black background.
