One Million Dollars could be spent today on feeding our military and local community who are depending on food banks. But instead we got national guard troops walking down a sidewalk near Bass Pro where barely any crime takes place.
It’s estimated that the National Guard in Memphis will cost a million dollars a day. With the helicopters flying around and other agencies it’s probably much more. Imagine if we put $1 million a day into our community. Helping kids, schools, teachers, mental health needs and creating opportunities.
Book censorship in the public arena initiates the ideologies that certain topics, races, genders, religions, and people are not permissible to be discussed in the public square. They become foreign and taboo. Extremist orgs like Moms for Liberty push book bans to push white supremacy.
The Memphis public library had to change Banned Book Week to “Freedom to Read Week.” The city asked all displays to be taken down. This is their new idea of freedom. Shame on the Mayor and the City for bowing down to authoritarians.

Just saw a pick up truck with what I thought was going to be a large Trump flag in Memphis, but instead it was a One Piece Flag. Pleasantly surprised that a sprinkle of people in this city are keeping up with global events.
Congratulations to Machado. I understand the committee decision and think it was the right one. My heart felt that Greta Thunberg should have been considered because she is the only person that seems to lead a glimmer of humanity doing the right thing in Gaza.
