Also happy nameday to the dino known as Albertosaurus. This genus is one of the best studied and sampled Tyrannosaurs. It was named 120 years ago in the same article as Tyrannosaurus rex!

Woolly mammoths have two sets of tusks that grow continuously throughout life, about 6 inches per year. They have growth rings that are similar in appearance to growth rings of a tree. The rings can also be used to reveal which month the animal died.

Sorta rhino-like fossil skull with six knobs on its head and a huge canine tooth. It’s lying upside down in an undulating plaster cradle that matches the contours of the the top of the skull.
