I think it would be bloody and I kinda think America would benefit in the long run if Trump’s exit (however it happens) is messy.

Democracy is precious and fragile and maybe we forgot that.

VeilidChat can be compiled as IPA, APK, .exe, Flatpak, WASM, and l probably missed one or two.

We prioritize mobile apps (and mobile networking) because that’s where users are these days, but desktop apps are still important and part of why we went with Flutter/Dart.

We want Veilid as a framework that enables development of distributed apps to thrive even if the foundation ceases to exist.

One scenario we’re trying avoid is, if we disappear the project lives on. If there’s a way to do a store but it’s resilient to collapse of the foundation, that’s worth exploring.

This is also why we have VeilidChat in Apple and Google app stores. Distributed systems are kind of a gray area in those stores so we’re testing the waters to look for pitfalls.

Another idea is we might put a list of Veilid based apps on our site and grade them based on factors such as open/closed source and revenue models (using tracking ads, etc).

There have been discussions about such a thing. The challenge is that we (the Veilid team) do not want to be a central authority so we so we don’t want to “run” the store or be the approval mechanism.

I was being facetious about the platform. Obviously @veilid.com is the best 😃

But more importantly, porting the 🧊 information apps to PWAs would be a sound way to keep them available.

Once upon a time a browser could hold 1 web page at a time.

For example, some of us had multiple instances of I.E. open to have more than one page open at a time.

(Don't sneer, you used I.E. at some point too.)

Then a browser dev came up with tabs!
