An excellent piece by Yasmin Khan in @theguardian.com – and I’m very relieved the preposterous case against her has been dropped. www.theguardian.com/food/comment...

I see America has invented the roundabout
Keene, NH has been replacing their stop-lighted intersections with roundabouts, resulting in big reductions in pollution, accidents & injuries, and costs. “Slowly moving is better than waiting at a light any day.” [nytimes.com]
Cutting Emissions, the Roundabout Way, in New Hampshire
Despite its small stature, the city of Keene, has become an example of the safety and climate benefits of swapping traffic lights for roundabouts.

Sad to hear of the death of Andreas Whittam-Smith. A great editor to work for — omnivorously curious, enthusiastic and eccentric in all the right ways.

Bending my mind with this today for Start the Week. I currently exist in a superposition of dawning comprehension and complete bafflement. But hey, even Einstein found it hard to get his head round the idea. Collapse of my wave form on Monday at 9:00 on Radio Four.

Such a useful quantity the “drove”. How many entrepreneurs does it take to form a stampede? Don’t worry, you don’t have to say!

I’m anosmic. I can’t (to save my life) smell gas. But the other night I had a vivid dream about a gas leak which I couldn’t fix. In the morning my wife came up from the kitchen (3 floors down) and said that a gas tap had been left slightly on all night. So, maybe I can smell after all?
