International teacher in Indonesia.

Building life beyond them all with baking and board games.
Getting new students midway through the year truly reveals how much growth has happened. Proud teacher moment watching my class warmly welcome a newcomer with minimal guidance—showing empathy, leadership, and what they've learned together! #Grade3

Reflection has officially begun for this semester.

I've set a personal challenge: by the end of each month, every one of my students will part of a reflection. My goal is to intentionally seek out and highlight the good in each student, celebrating their growth and positive contributions.

Thanks @mrneibauer.bsky.social for sharing. These are good descriptions of the method. #EduSky #Grade3
I've used John Spencer’s SLIME Method each year, both personally and with my students to set goals for a new semester or year. Check out my 2025 SLIME goals! #SubstackSky #EduSky

Reasonable goals for every class period, every day:

1️⃣ every student hears their name spoken aloud

2️⃣ every student gets a chance to share aloud to peers

Great points by @joelatorre.bsky.social
Prioritizing students' needs creates trust, fosters growth, and empowers learning. When their well-being comes first, engagement and ownership follow, turning the classroom into a space for success and meaningful impact.

Have you ever asked yourself: Who do I really work for?

I figured that out a long time ago and have been grateful ever since. More here:

Building relationships is a cornerstone of teaching. This great article by @marcusluther.bsky.social highlights the value of providing authentic feedback, even when it requires extra time and effort. #FeedbackMatters #Grade3
To be clear, I am concerned about students using AI as a shortcut to learning—but that concern is sort of being "gaslit" by the messaging/choices by so many adults in education:

I think one of the most important pieces I can bring over from Twitter to start is a collection of assessment resources that everyone is allowed to copy and use, if it's helpful.

Grade-level reading gaps can keep students from feeling confident in their reading skills. This evidence-based approach supports their independence *and* fluency. 📖
