Tele Vue founder Al Nagler designed the lenses for the wide-field heliospheric imagers on 𝐍𝐀𝐒𝐀’𝐬 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐚𝐫𝐢𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐞𝐫 𝐭𝐨 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐟𝐲 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐂𝐨𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐚 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐇𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐨𝐬𝐩𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 (𝐏𝐔𝐍𝐂𝐇) mission satellites. These imagers are used to study the solar wind. That mission is now a finalist for the AIAA “Small Satellite Mission of the Year”. Nominees must show innovation in structural design, instrument development, communications, attitude determination & control, intersatellite coordination, constellation management, onboard computing, & other aspects.
