Tenleytown’s Container Store will close this weekend.

After around 20 years in the neighborhood, The Container Store shuts its doors for good by Sunday, November 2. Even now, there’s little left to buy.

Target and Ace Hardware remain open at 4500 Wisconsin Avenue.

Up in Friendship Heights, they had a ribbon-cutting ceremony this week for a housing addition that brings 93 new affordable senior citizen housing units to Western Avenue.

Called The Louise, the new apartments are part of the Lisner-Louise-Dickson-Hurt home for senior citizens.

Developer UIP lost the property and has now negotiated to regain control of the long-delayed project that will bring 146 apartments to Tenleytown.

Cats and kittens looking for forever homes will be at the pet store from 12 noon to 2pm on Saturday, October 25.

While the Smithsonian museums are all closed, the nearby Kreeger Museum is open on Foxhall Road.

The Kreeger Museum is open Tuesday-Saturday, but it’s a private museum so there is an admission charge.

There are lots of fall colors at the Pumpkin Patch market of flowers, pumpkins and such on Massachusetts Avenue outside St. Sophia’s.
Le Chat Noir opened 20 years ago, and since then has become a mainstay in Tenleytown and Friendship Heights.

After more than 3 years of advocacy, legislation and planning, a suicide safety fence is starting to go up on Taft Bridge (Connecticut Avenue over Rock Creek Park - between Woodley Park and Dupont Circle).

The current fencing is temporary, with a permanent one planned for sometime next year.
