My 2 favourite books are "The Last Valley" by Martin Windrow and "A Savage War of Peace: Algeria 1954-1962 by Alistair Horne. Keen interest in history of Northern Ireland during the Troubles, Falklands war and the battle of Rourke's Drift.

Listening to Cold Chisel's Flame Trees tonight. Realised that the more recent live versions by Jimmy Barnes have a much fuller sound to them, especially with Ian Moss playing guitar and more prominent piano underpinning the whole thing compared to studio versions.

Once again, Bridget McKenzie is a fucking clown 🤡. Tim Fischer would be rolling in his grave to hear her comments opposing the government's proposed gun control measures.

For the record, I met Tim Fischer years ago and commended him on his courage in staring down his own voters on gun control.
I'll say it again, Bridget McKenzie is a fucking clown.

Lots of commentary recently framing Australia as a place that is / was / should be immune from stuff that happens overseas, as if you can just ignore international events & go about your day carefree because it's not happening here. Blissful "she'll be right, mate" ignorance without consequences.

I'm back to looking at the 2025 Federal election result, this time explaining the Victorian results. At the start of the campaign Victoria was where Labor could lose the election, but in the end the state delivered Labor a record result. More detail here. antonygreen.com.au/fed2025-hous...

Switched from Windows to Mac for work laptop. Honestly wondering why people subject themselves to the crap that is Windows. Everything single thing is easier to do on a Mac.

Reading Niki Savva's "Earthquake: the election that shook Australia". Stunned that Kristina Keneally, the NSW equivalent of Richard Marles, is seen as the best Labor has to offer voters. Like the Democrats and Hillary Clinton, Labor simply forgot that voters hate her guts.

What is the point of the Labor party in government? Just useless all around. Someone tell Chalmers to start counting please.

Can someone please do the math on how many 16 year olds will be eligible to vote at the next Federal election? Would be handy to know how big the swing against the government will be at a minimum. Bonus points for marginal seat level calcs.

Now publish the travel expenses of every executive at the ABC.

This is just muck-raking. Does anyone really think that this is an issue that resonates with voters, more than housing affordability, inflation or energy prices?

Just lazy reporting. It's not journalism.

Family reunion travel is under scrutiny as new analysis shows federal MPs and senators spent $1.1 million on flying and driving their loved ones to Canberra and around Australia in 12 months.
