My 2 favourite books are "The Last Valley" by Martin Windrow and "A Savage War of Peace: Algeria 1954-1962 by Alistair Horne. Keen interest in history of Northern Ireland during the Troubles, Falklands war and the battle of Rourke's Drift.

Noting that polls are snapshots not predictions, this #Redbridge/Accent poll looks disastrous for the non-Labor side of politics.

Ted is thick as a brick. How did this person ever become deputy leader?
So, to be clear, it would be “political” if Albanese grants the Nationals additional staff or denies them additional staff. Ted O'Brien, ABC Insiders, this morning 😎

This is neoliberal capitalism working as intended, yet the Labour party in government throw their hands in the air saying "We've tried nothing and we're out of ideas".

14.2m Britons live in poverty, highest in 30 yrs.

Just blocked Wil Wheaton for being a centrist shill for the rusted on Dems. Any excuse to avoid doing anything vaguely progressive. No wonder American politics is fkd.

I do not recommend ordering "Indian Hot" unless every meal you regularly consume is "Indian Hot".

Route planning from a list of place in Google Maps can be made a bit simpler by labeling each location.

How can I create a route from numerous locations I have saved in “your lists” (saved lists)?? - Google Maps Community

Turns out that all lives matter when white people are the ones being murdered by the US government.
Protesters clashed with federal agents for another night outside the Whipple Federal Building, which holds ICE detainees. Agents fired less-lethal munitions and deployed chemical irritants at the crowd.

American capitalism is deliberately designed to stifle solidarity amongst the working class, that's the only way the system can survive. The system can't handle white workers defending their black & brown colleagues & neighbours.
Solidarity, particularly across race and class, is Kryptonite for authoritarian regimes. They can only thrive when their us v. them framing is adopted by society at large, and they join as active or passive collaborators with the regime. So the only response they have is to raise the cost of unity
They are telling us in unequivocal terms that if you show solidarity with immigrants who are in the literal crosshairs of Trump/MAGA, you're risking a death sentence.

Why is anyone surprised that the men of the Liberal and National party are treating Sussan Ley like shit? Have you not paid any attention to Australian politics the last 20 years?

Searching online for USGS maps of Dien Bien Phu based on the pointers from www.rjsmith.com/topo_map.html

Downloaded store.usgs.gov/assets/yimag... & store.usgs.gov/assets/yimag...

Stitched half of each map together to produce a rough map (attached). Ordered an A3 print on NeverTear 95 micron.

And yet, I‘m told that Finnish soldiers deployed to Iraq built a sauna there.

Almost every single piece of expert analysis on this page is absolutely cooked.

Gerber, Karvelas, Speers, Armstrong all thoroughly cooked "Here's why the Coalition imploding is bad for Labor" 🤦🤦🤦
The optics are diabolical for Liberals and Nationals, as chaos reigns
Littleproud and his team have now basically broken one of the most fundamental political rules of the Coalition — the Nationals are now effectively dictating to the Liberals who their leader should be...

"Urgent call for General John D. Caine. Paging General Caine".
At what point do the Joint Chiefs of Staff conclude that the President is mentally incapable of serving as Commander-in-Chief and remove him from power?
What's crazier is that you can be assured that no one in US military wants this airbase back while Taliban in power. Absent reoccupation of whole country - which would mean return to forever war - it wld be a perpetual security liability.

Absolutely barking mad.
