Since I’m new to this place: Hi! I’m Tess and I’m a PhD candidate in history researching the mapping of Czechoslovakia after WWI. My dissertation looks at mapmakers, boundary commissions, and border disputes along the Austrian and German borders with Bohemia.
Thanks for the follow!

I’m sooo careful when I’m walking Ellie and see any runners or cyclists. Only thing is when they come up from behind and don’t give us any room or warning. Then there’s not a lot I can do

Councillor Troster and MPP McKenney are right to call out the Ford government's unsubstantiated decision to close the consumption and treatment site at SWCHC. That choice has made the entire community less safe.
McKenney, Troster: Tory ideology created an overdose crisis in Ottawa's Chinatown
Housing, addiction treatment, outreach services, mental health resources and harm reduction are needed to tackle the current crisis.

I grew up near Tunney’s pasture and I used to spend the summer exploring the city by riding the bus. It gave me that sense of freedom most teens feel when they get their license…
What a sad move.

Meanwhile I had them issuing corrections for things that weren’t even incorrect 🙄

Statements like this intrigue me, given that there is a similar myth about my own time period and place I research. To the archive, I guess! www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

Canadians! Advance polls are open 9-9 April 18-21!

Usually voting takes me 5 minutes but apparently it’s a 1.5 hour wait at my spot! Love the turn out!!!

A new article by @tessmegginson.bsky.social shows that these processes of border delimitation were in fact quite involved. Her analysis of the border town Gmünd demonstrates how citizens actively lobbied for their interests and interacted with international boundary commissions in post-WWI Europe.
