Former GOP Congressman David Jolly noted that the true Constitutional crisis is that this Congress apparently will refuse to do its duty to restrain an out of control President, if necessary by impeachment in the House and removal from office in the Senate.

Hey @jaketapper.bsky.social, I'm no expert on cognitive illnesses, but it feels a bit detached from reality for a sitting POTUS to forget that he was in power during an attack on the U.S. Capitol, doesn't it? Do you know anyone in journalism with experience covering dementia-like symptoms?

Nine years ago, JD Vance called Trump "America's Hitler."

This was before Vance, like many others, abandoned all of his principles and became a groveling sycophantic follower of Trump, in pursuit of political power.

But the 2016 version of JD Vance tried to warn us:

Who were the violent criminals who assaulted more than 140 police officers, that Trump pardoned?
texasgeologist.bsky.social
Trump confessed last year that the J6 thugs were his guys--when he (falsely) claimed that "We," as in the violent thugs who assaulted police officers, did not have guns, while the "Others," as in the police officers defending the Capitol, had guns, which raises a question about a Ted Cruz statement.

I’d like to know too. Has all this insane bullshit made anyone’s life better?

Answer: NO - HELL NO.

i want to check in with trump voters. i have one very genuine question: it's been 250 days. now that immigrants have been violently torn from their families and communities have been destroyed, now that trans people have been blamed for virtually everything and live in fear, now that free speech is on the brink of collapse for us all - has your life gotten better? have your groceries gotten cheaper? has your health insurance premium gone down? has your work/life balance improved? can you take a vacation yet? are you happier? has the widespread suffering of others paid off for you in the way he promised it would, or are you still waiting?

To put the unnecessary US Covid deaths in perspective, total US combat fatalities in the Second World War were about 292,000, versus about 650,000 unnecessary US Covid deaths (the number in excess of our mortality count if we had just matched Canada's mortality rate).

That’s a nice trick, since Biden wasn’t the president on Jan 6.

Between vaccine-preventable measles deaths in Samoa and vaccine-preventable Covid deaths, RFK, Jr. and Trump left a trail of unnecessary deaths in their wake.

If the US had simply matched Canada's Covid mortality rate, we would have had about 650,000 fewer Covid deaths.

Considering what's public, one can only wonder what they are trying to hide.

JD Vance concluded in 2016 that he believed accusations made by victims—like Katie Johnson* (a 13 year-old at the time of the alleged assaults)—that Trump had engaged in serial sexual assault.

Trump continues to follow the Hitler Rise to Power playbook. See item #18.

Circa 2016, JD Vance--before he abandoned all of his principles and became a groveling sycophantic Trump follower--was Antifa, calling Trump "America's Hitler."

In regard to the question of what kind of government we would have, Benjamin Franklin replied: "A republic--if you can keep it"

If our republic is to fail before we even reach the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence, it's the GOP that will have its blood on their hands.

One could plausibly argue that the 2017 Anti-fascist ("Antifa") protests were inspired by JD Vance's 2016 observation that Trump was "America's Hitler."

NBC News article on the 2017 Antifa protests in Charlottesville:

They relish in punching Nazis. They protest in all black. And they've vowed to physically confront racists and extremists across the country.
