I read back in either March or maybe May that we've committed to the 16, I'm assuming that even if we paid for 4, committing means we're on the hook for the 16. That article had the cost at $100mln each.

We're contractually obligated to 16, if we cancelled we'd be out billions with no planes to even show for it. Buy them, commit them to NORAD, and the primary fleet are Gripens. Sweden's offer includes(I think)IP transfer, manufacturing and maintenance would be local.

I'm really agreeing with UNIFOR President, Lana Payne: the best deal for #Canada might be no deal at all. Better no deal, than a bunch of small bad deals. IMO Canada needs to buy out minimum 16 #F-35 and the rest from Saab, send a message. Pull away from the US faster
