there are some great movies in here. the french new wave movement was incredibly influential on modern filmmakers across the board. $3 to rent one of these is not a bad deal at all if you're wanting to get into movies that very likely inspired your favorites

coincidentally just rewatched this tonight (on hoopla! which is free with a library card for US folks) still fantastic, personally I put it up there as one of the best Christmas films a person can watch

I'm two hundred pages into this and it's weird how much the Marquis sounds like a well read modern manosphere influencer who frequently dabbles in gay flings
and a Dialogue Between a Priest and a Dying Man is just 250 year old new age atheism. it's a bit wild seeing this stuff in the 1700s

current read. probably won't read all of this in one go, but I want to get into it. not a writer I recommend to anyone else for what should be obvious reasons but his influence on other writers and philosophers is undeniable and I'm interested in the results of that influence

this post is mostly getting responses of difficult to watch films for their heavy subject matter but honest to god, I would watch Come and See, Schindler's List or 120 Days of Sodom one hundred times over seeing The Minecraft Movie ever again
I have a feeling $20 to rent a single, obscure movie is going to be a hard sell for most people, but maybe letterboxd users are built different
I do like the idea though, there are a lot of good movies that will never hit a streamer or have out of print physical releases
