One of those days where you watch the first 15 minutes of a few different movies but apparently movies are terrible and you want nothing to do with them

Share a 90s film you think deserves more love.

Star Time (1992). Cronenberg and Lynch inspired film about a television addled man killing for fame, predates both Kalifornia and Natural Born Killers 📽️

RIP Udo Kier
An emu just stole Udo Keir’s glasses. This movie is wild

First time watch of The Wailing (2016). Expected a feel bad movie but am utterly surprised and kind of charmed that Jong-goo is such an incompetent boob. The fact that he is such a loveable oaf is going to make it so heartbreaking when bad shit starts happening📽️ #horrorsky

Speaking of movies that take place where you're from, you should watch 1919, Noam Gonick's short about the Winnipeg General Strike. It is only 8 minutes long, takes place entirely in a bathhouse, and is gay as hell. You'll love it 📽

A movie that takes place where you're from.

Here's four. I specifically avoided Guy Maddin movies, which felt like cheating had I used.

Crime Wave (1985, John Paizs)
Heater (1999, Terrance Odette)
Hey, Happy! (1999, Noam Gonick)
Universal Language (2024, Matthew Rankin)

Skelly is watching My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done. I think everyone should watch this movie about basketball

@pizzalawyer420.bsky.social don't do thru this thread until you've done, I don't want you spoiled
The MNF game was a bust, so now watching My Son, My Son, What Have Ye Done (2009). Michael Shannon has killed his mom with a sword and Willem Dafoe needs to find out why. Also Chloe Sévigny, Michael Pena, and Brad Dourif are also hanging around 📽️

Hell, let’s watch a Brinke Stevens movie. Now watching Repligator (1996), the army is turning people into alligators and somehow a bunch of naked women are involved. Starring Gunnar “Leatherface” Hansen 📽️ #horrorsky

I rarely post actual nudity on main, but wanted to shout out @waxpackglam.bsky.social who combines two of my favourite things: vintage sports cards and nudity. This OPC set is a particular favourite, the pin is so charming. And Brinke is currently my most watched actor for 2025

Rewatching The Lost City of Z (2016), because sometimes you want to watch something adventurous. Part of me wishes that Hunnam and Pattinson switched roles. Hunnam is great but I always want more Bobby Patts 📽️

50 years ago today, this photo of the Chicago press conference for One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest was taken.

In the background you can see Gene Siskel and Roger Ebert — in the clothes they wore in the Siskel & Ebert pilot, which was also shot that same day.

Someone on the 2nd floor of my building is a good cook and it drives me insane. Every night I come home and smell their dinner wafting in the hall and I want to run headfirst through the wall and eat it

Rewatching this tonight, as there is the new upscale on YouTube. Link in next skeet
NW Ricky Jay & His 52 Assistants (1996), which has just been added to the Internet Archive. Link and credit in the next skeet. Ricky was just one of those effortlessly cool dudes #filmsky 📽️

Enjoying Gawain & the Green Knight (1972) starring Murray Head. Clearly low budget as far as epics go, but I dig a lot of the costumes and the wormy priest from Barry Lyndon plays a wormy seneschal. The same director remade the story in the 80s, with Sean Connery as the Green Knight 📽️

It’s a Debbie Rochon night. Now watching Hellblock 13 (1999). A anthology film about death row inmate Tara telling her executioner, Gunner Hansen aka Leatherface, spooky stories she has written 📽️ #horrorsky

Genuinely one of the great SoV films. A film that exists in that sweet spot of bafflingly bad and genuinely kinda neat. I'd also recommend Wicked World but that film is less fun and instead really overwhelming and anxiety inducing (which to me is still fun).
Watched Things (1989) this afternoon. I love when movies look like lost transmissions from a hell dimension. Underrated aspect is the disjointed ADR’d audio. I hope I never see this in a pristine HD cut. Contextless screens to follow because this is a vibes movie 📽️ #horrorsky

Proving I’m not a scared baby by watching a scary horror movie. Okay I just wanted to watch a Veronica Ricci film. It’s Fangs Out (2023), there’s a shady underground plastic surgeon and I guess they’re also vampires? 📽️ #horrorsky

First time watch of Ozploitation horror classic Patrick (1978). Honestly this is making an absolute meal out of a wide eyed comatose guy who spits. I’m also loving the sound design 📽️ #horrorsky
