There are lots of shops that will cover up nazi ink for free or a big discount!
It really feels like every day you get out of bed with a nazi tattoo and don't make an appointment to get it covered up or removed you are making a new decision
Has anyone done the “it’s not a totenkopf tattoo he’s just a Death in June fan!” thing yet because that would be a funny can of worms to open.
He’s an NYT Op Ed writer (the only good one) and public intellectual who is popular here because he was an early adopter and makes interesting posts on a variety of subjects. Like most problems dudes have it can be traced back to “don’t be shitty, wash your ass.”
FYI the most problematic tattoo I have is a crossed arrows thing that looks like the logo for a millennial farm-to-table gastropub. (manic episode + wanted to be kinda silly that afternoon)
It’s funny how many mainstream libs (like the pod save guy) come over here, choose some incredibly stupid and easily avoided hill to die on, them blame “the left” and claim Jamelle Bouie is some kind of sinister bluesky ring leader.
I’m curious about Mormonism. Was Joseph Smith an excavator, because there’s no other way for him to get at those golden tablets.
It really isn’t! Just assume everyone could use a little kindness in your interactions with them and respectfully don’t ask any uninvited questions.
(For context, I was a sensitive young man in rural West Texas who was interested in what little art and books and theater I could get my hands on, which led to much kinda bad faith speculation in my extended family about my personal life that was really no ones business to begin with.)
The looks I gave strangers asking if our baby was a boy or a girl…It depends on why you need to know that to say what you want to say. Are you going to tell me how sexy they’ll be when they’re older because that’s kinda fucked up considering how common it is.
I’m a dad to a kid first and foremost. Their identity is theirs to forge, I’m here to provide the tools for them to work it out in a safe, compassionate space. We’re just having fun figuring all this stuff out together as we go. People are entirely too weird about kids genders.
A lot of Girl Dad discourse is so bad and dumb. I’m not losing any part of myself or sacrificing anything by having a daughter. Doing “girlie” things with her doesn’t carry any humiliation or require any special understanding. If I had a son and he wanted to paint my nails I’d happily let him!
Do you think your dog ever watches you pee in the toilet and thinks “Ok, I get it, I get it, it’s YOURS.”
stg a prerequisite for being anybody in the Trump GOP is an encyclopedic memory for racial slurs going back to the 1840’s. These motherfuckers know insults Butcher Bill would have blushed at.
One small deviation from the Streets of Fire timeline.
(standing around with my pants down waiting for a golf ball to knock over a teapot so I can get off)
I had a lot of fun with my Dad when he went through that phase. We planted so many trees and shrubs, many of which grew beautifully.
Also, you haven’t lived until you’ve sat in a work truck hungover and watched a stealth fighter circle and approach a small city over and over and over again while stuck in traffic in front of a bar advertising little people wrestling that Thursday.
Anyway, that was one of those big “we live in a crumbling empire and no one is coming to help” moments that stands out very clearly to me.
When I finally made my delivery (a Harley that had been in the shop) I spent my last $10 at a Taco Bell full of the most miserable retirees and military wives I’d ever seen. Remember when ten bucks went a long way at Taco Bell?
I had to drive from Las Cruces to Alamogordo once, got stuck up in Baylor Pass because of missile testing, hit a traffic jam at the Holloman AFB gates where I watched some stealth plane practice the same approach to a runway over and over again.

I doubt we can ever return to “normal” whatever that means. Both of these parties and this entire political system will probably have to become unrecognizable for anything human to emerge. The good thing is, the protests show a LOT of people want a better world

Adri and I were speaking Spanish yesterday and she had to ask “Quien
es Pablo Maud’dib?”
