Ashes to ashes, dust to dust....
This is actually the second go of this piece. The first one was all ink, and honestly, I was so sad about losing the somber effect that I redid it in graphite.

We easily forget the words. Our brains turn them to colors, scents, ancient images fraying on the edges. When we delve into the depths of our memory, they're fuzzy and unsteady. Replaced by perceptive whimsy.

I wanted to be a writer. When I took my HS grammar class, the teacher said if you can’t get at least a B, you’ve no business being a writer. I got a C+ and absolutely abandoned writing. 🫠
I pivoted to art. My mother said being a fine artist wouldn’t pay bills. So I pursued graphic design instead.
