That's good info, wasn't aware it was a wotl thing. Everything is lending more and more credence to them using wotl as a base and not PS1. I wouldn't be surprised if that's part of the reason the sfx are messed up.

You can set every unit to AI, including Ramza. The game has AI types though, like attack X unit or defend X unit, so if you're just looking for a generic dynamic AI it won't work that way.

This version seems like it's perfect for repeated playthroughs, aside from the higher JP requirements for high tier jobs and the fact that Wiegraf has 10 spd. It also has distorted sfx which sours the experience. The original NA PS1 version still seems best for a first play, or maybe remaster itself

Finished FFT Classic last night. It definitely runs fast with 0 lag and faster processing in general. They fixed every bug I could think of except for stealing from Gaf. The 1 major change I saw is that they made the sluice battle end when you kill everything instead of forcing you to hit switches.

I booted up classic mode FFT and the game feels faster; ai thinks less, menus seem a bit snappier, and you can skip cutscenes. I haven't played the game in ages, so I might be imagining it. It does have sfx issues, somewhat muffled and some emu style twang to them.

This is why you cannot trust YouTubers and publishers in the retrogaming space. This 2025 megadrive game presented as "better than most snes game" has assets traced over existing sprites (Wild Guns and Shinobi III) and AI-generated backgrounds. Garbage game, garbage company, garbage shill youtuber.

On Macho I always struggled with needing to dodge the straight punch quickly combined with a lot of his stuff being set up to punish you if you quickly react with twitch dodging to any movement. Also, by the time I was able to read which program he was using I'd already be punched in the face.
