I need to work on my POI generator. It's a basic rectangle generator right now, but I need to rewrite it from scratch & base it on room & item grammar, allow for non-rectangular shapes, and then move on to multi-structure POIs like towns & dungeons. Square font ftw. #godot #godotengine #gamedev

Well I'm about an hour into Routine with about 3 minutes of actual gameplay. Non-intuitive mechanics, big areas with very little to do, lots of loading screens, uncomfortably dark areas. I love puzzles in general and the retro aesthetic, but the negatives are quickly exhausting my patience.

I watched a summary video of the #Unity Unite roadmap by @code-monkey.finagle.org. It all *sounds* really good, but it's extremely ambitious and I'll believe it when it happens. Considering how poor Unity's technical execution has been for the past few years, I am extremely skeptical.

Oh yeah, this noise is looking pretty good. The water isn't completely realistic when looking at the whole map, because it doesn't flow, but each region looks pretty organic in context. I may have to bevel the banks for the mesh to look more natural; we'll see. #Godot #gamedev

Back on my stuff again. New #Godot project, going to be a top-down strategy/base-builder sim similar to Going Medieval. I get about 1200 fps uncapped for 512x512x16 bloxels (16x16x1 = 256 chunks), but it's very early days. Deets on screen. No greedy meshing yet. #GodotEngine #GameDev #indiedev

Vsync isn't busted in #Godot 4.5.1 is it? I can't seem to disable it. Turned it off in Project and Editor settings, and set Max Fps to 0 as well. Have also disabled via code and made sure it's not forced on in Nvidia control panel. No joy, still stuck at 60fps on a 144hz monitor. #GodotEngine

Most of what we experience of pain is the memory of it. It's a survival mechanism to encourage us to do our best to avoid pain in the future. The memory of pleasure fades quickly; not only that, but we need more and more pleasure to re-experience similar heights. It's TANJ unfair.
