Here’s a useful reminder of what our federal courts SHOULD be doing to uphold our constitutional traditions:

Our critic annotates the barbed wordplay of a decision challenging the Trump administration’s theory of executive power.

Home at last!
Yesterday, five-year-old Liam and his dad Adrian were released from Dilley detention center. I picked them up last night and escorted them back to Minnesota this morning.

Liam is now home. With his hat and his backpack.

Canada really does do comedy well. Loved SCTV in my youth and loved Schitt’s Creek when I was, shall we say, not young. You made me laugh Catherine, Thank You. 😢

Carney: "American hegemony in particular helped provide public goods, a stable financial system... this bargain no longer works. Let me be direct. We are in the midst of a rupture, not a transition... recently, great powers have begun using economic integration as a weapon. Tariffs as leverage ... "

I just listened to Mark Carney speak in Davos. Rational, thoughtful and realistic…my country is well served by his leadership and so is the world. 🇨🇦

America vs. the World
President Trump wants to return to the 19th century’s international order. He will leave America less prosperous—and the whole world less secure.

People passing around the 60 Minutes CECOT piece like teenage boys from the 1980s passing around their dad's Playboy issues, and YouTube cannot take down ripped copies fast enough.

Here's one that's interesting: a video of the video.

Let's cheer the Canadian women dominating world rugby. They had to crowd source to raise the money to even get into the tournament. Nobody took them seriously. They crushed the New Zealand giants. They are going into the finals.
Come on fellow Canucks - is the real miracle team.
So proud.

If there was ever a season to retire — with so many places on the schedule that mean so much to Brad Gushue — this is it.

An Olympics in Italy… where he won gold in 2006. Trying to get back 20 years later.

And a Brier in St. John’s. Home. Where he won his first title.

The More You Know 🌟

Did you know that sea otters have special pockets of loose skin under their forearms where they store their favorite rocks, which they use as tools to crack open shellfish.

This unique adaptation helps them access food more efficiently.

I've told this story before but I was in a taxi once and my driver, learning I was a writer, complained his young kid only wanted comic books. I told him to encourage that, because that was the kid's door into reading and the rest would come in time. I think it helped that advice came from a writer.
It was hard to get my son to read until he picked up comic books. Comic adaptations of novels led to the novels themselves. Now he enjoys all kinds of books and his reading comprehension at school is above grade level. Reading is reading!
