This was one of my most special theatrical experiences this year. Tonatiuh gives a beautiful central performance. The way Condon pastiches the MGM musical is heavenly. Together, they make this one of my favorite cinematic rumination on queer obsession with stardom, divas, Hollywood, and spectacle.

I know there are many moving parts and the overall landscape of the movie industry can be quite bleak, but the fact that I could see these three movies ar a random multiplex in Michigan is kind of wondrous to me.
