Day six! Write a letter as your character. There aren't actually any people in Aranel's past she would want to write to, but I think after the events of BG3 Halsin would try to convince her that writing to her deceased parents would give her some closure

Dear Mom and Dad,

This feels stupid. It's been over a century since you died. Halsin keeps pestering me, though, saying writing will make me feel better. He's usually right, the ass.

Reithwin is flourishing now that the shadow curse is broken. Halsin has been amazing. He claims he's not a leader, that he was terrible for the Emerald Grove, but he is. He just couldn't thrive while the curse remained.

I managed to convince him to let me be his apprentice. He kept protesting that as my lover he shouldn't be my teacher but when I pointed out how useful it would be to have a second healer he finally relented. I managed to wildshape for the first time yesterday, into a wolf. I got good at combat in the monastery, but learning the druidic arts feels so…right. I still train, of course, and I'm training others, but I've turned away from Ilmater and back to Silvanus. I wasn't smited, so I think The Crying God understands.

Halsin thinks you would be proud of me. I hope he's right.

Day four! Make a social media account for your OC. This was hard -- Aranel is very private and would hate social media. I think she'd definitely post in a very terse way, and only when somebody prompted her to post. It would be super incongruous with how big or important of a thing happened

Day two's prompt is to make a collage to represent a place. Aranel's whole deal with that she doesn't have a place she feels at home in anymore. She loved the grove, but it burned down when she was so young she can barely remember it. She wants to forget the cold stone of the monastery.

I'm following @ginnydi.com's 7-Day Character Challenge for Aranel! Today's prompt is to write a diary entry from the perspective of your character. I chose the day Aranel finally completed her Trial of Mastery and left the monastery as a full monk

It’s over. I’ve finally been named Master. I bribed the guards to seal the doors during my audience with the council, and told them their choices were to elevate me or to kill me. When none of them could touch me, they finally agreed I had passed my trial. I walked out and will never return. The monastery is in my past, now, and I am leaving my child name behind with it. I’ve named myself Aranel, after my mother. I don’t know where I’ll go now. Maybe to the Cloakwood, to see if I can find any remnants of my old Circle. And if not…I don’t know. I’ll decide once it has come to that.

Working on my longfic and needed to skip forward and write this scene. Previously, Aranel admitted revivification was common at her monastery and novice monks were expected to kill each other. She claimed she couldn't remember how many times she's died. That night, Halsin presses her

Halsin exhaled another stream of smoke and his smile faded into seriousness. His eyes met hers in an intense gaze.

“How many times have you died?”

“I told you I—”

“You lied.” Halsin’s voice was flat, more matter-of-fact than accusatory. She opened her mouth to protest and he waved a hand to stop her. “Karlach and Astarion may not be insightful enough to see when you are trying to deceive them, but I am.”

Aranel sighed softly.

“That’s truly what you want to know about me?”

Halsin’s lips quirked up in a smile that held little humor.

“There are…a great deal of questions I have about you. This is one of the least intrusive. But if you wish, I could pick another…”

Aranel leaned her head back against the tree to look at the stone above. They were both quiet for a long time. She found his presence comforting in a way she couldn’t quite put into words, and appreciated that he didn’t seem to feel the need to fill every silence the way their companions did.

“Two thousand, four hundred, seventy three.”

Aranel and Halsin prepare Reithwin for Highharvestide. The adults spend close to a full tenday cooking and decorating, and Halsin leads the children in building a cart out of wood to be broken and buried as a sacrifice to Silvanus.

Aranel is The Hermit. She is wise and very independent, but a century of loneliness has left her feeling isolated and distant from others, and she struggles to let her guard down enough for others to get close. She's uncertain where she belongs and feels resigned to being alone

Third attempt died to a Dark Urge event I didn't really understand? I made it to Act 2, then woke up with a party member dead and all the others aggroed. Died in one Lae'zel turn when she hit me twice, action surged, and hit me twice more. I think next attempt will not be Durge...
