But overall, inconsistent, and this wasn't a performance that built on the attacking promise on Saturday

Still, the most important job - win - was done. And with a clean sheet too!
Full time, 1-0 Reading!

Odd game to sum up

#ReadingFC definitely deserving of the win, but to a large extent that was because of how poor Northampton were

Some moments of quality, including for the goal: a really nice cross from Lane and header from Ehibhatiomhan

Half time, 0-0

#ReadingFC the better side, created some chances/half chances, but overall an inconsistent 45.

I do recommend reading James' article on TTE today!

I obviously have some pretty strong feelings about the football #readingfc are playing that put me in the opposite camp but this piece is well reasoned.

Even when I don't fully agree, I think James raises some valid points

"If Noel Hunt is to raise his stock among the faithful, he has to coach the repeatable fragility out of this side. He must sharpen their defensive awareness, teach them to stop danger before it starts."

"It's gutting and a harsh reflection on Reading's efforts that this game ended in defeat. No, the Royals weren't perfect, but they were definitely good enough for a deserved win."

So, so much better going forwards and created enough good chances to win that.

Best indication yet that there's a good side in there. But, of course, we have to show that more regularly and get the details right.
Full time, 2-1 Cardiff

Can't have any complaints about the result when we concede so easily and don't take our chances, but the scoreline doesn't reflect #ReadingFC's overall performance

HT, 0-1!

Much, much better from #ReadingFC. Way more intensity and cohesion, looking good in and out of possession.

- Limited Cardiff really well, bar scrambling the ball off the line at 0-1

- Looked sharper going forwards and had a few strong spells

- Fantastic hit from Wingy 💙
